RPG fails :(

Is it just me or who else here totally fails with the RPG? Every time I try to shoot something I always seem to miss :( I wait for the deviation to settle but I still manage miss the target by an inch. I shot down a BH with it on Ramel yesterday, that was one of the few times I didn't totally fail with the kit. Sometimes I position myself on roads to ambush but ammo is scarce, and ammo trucks no ware in sight :(

Tips?

/sarcasm learn to shoot /end sarcasm

Just gotta get a feel for it really. Heck, ive lobbed rpgs at infantry 600 meters away from the ground onto a mountain on Lashkar and got damned close to hitting them. Just gotta know how far it drops at distance.

My career with the RPG has been a hit or fail. For example, on Al Basrah, I've got this Warrior in my sights crossing a bridge, when it realizes its mined and stops. I realize I've got a 5 second window, so I ready up my RPG, and I'm like... 50 meters away. Give it 5 seconds to get it accurate, and kill myself with the RPG hitting the wall right infront of me and at least 20 degrees off the center of the screen. Then theres the epic hits, where I takeout lots.

I've had a better experience with disposable LATs.

RPG's do seem to hit walla right in front of me.... but i think thats just how its lauched.

i'm not sure but i think an RPG started to drop after 200 meters or somthing silly, after that its a bit hit and miss.

The insurgent RPG-7 in-game is even more lenient that the real thing would be in the hands of a trained RPG Gunner.

source : http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/row/rpg-7.pdf

Note page 8, 50% chance of a trained RPG gunner hitting a tank at 250m with no crosswinds. 30% at 300m, 20% at 350m.....

the RPG really does fail then, Weel i guess its made for russia where a lot of battles might be taking place in forests etc. where a SRAW or javalin would not be usful.

And it's cheap, so you can arm a lot of your infantry with them :P

I've managed 2 consecutive 300m shots on a scimitar with the deviation, and a 300m hit on a moving blackhawk. Practice will get you aiming in the right place, then it's just luck whether or not the shot actually hits them. It is very satisfying when you get a good shot though.

LOL what? RPG is one of my favourite weapons in PR, I manage to hit even further targets, you just need to feel it...

Like all weapons in PR, its great at range... but craptacular up close >.<

W00t! parked jeep, 25m away!
Crouch, 7 seconds of aiming
FIRE!!!
60* deviation off to the left, kills a friendly trooper

FUUUUU!!

Lol, i had that problem with the grenade launcher a few times yesterday. i know that the grenade launcher isn't the weapon of choice on a forest map, but hey...

Anyway, i was 50 meters behind the rest of my squad, when they got shot at... everybody ducked, and hid behind a tree.
The SL ordered me to use the grenade launcher to take them out, so i aim between the two trees where my squad was hiding, wait like 10 seconds (probably more) without moving my mouse, and i shoot.

Wadda ya know, it hits the left tree, killing 2 of my squadmates and hurting 3 others...

FFFUUU~!

But then again thats a grenadier, can't kill vehicles and its far more expendable.

Wait, your Dutch and you can do Arnold impressions? FEAR ITS YOU

So at farther ranges the RPG is more effective? That seems to be the opposite of real life. But seriously there is a problem with RPGs, for no reason at all they seem to hit a wall and randomly kill you.

I'm awesome with the LATs, but the RPGs are just random. Either total win or total fail.
But at least they do a lot of damage when they do hit :D

I don't fire them from indoors anymore. Most recently on Gaza, my entire squad (RPG team) lined up in a house to volley our 4 or so RPGs at two Merkevas. We counted down, everyone fired out their window, except I blew up my face.

^ Nice Communist. That's hilarious.

Anyway, the RPGs an extremely underwhelming weapon in any setting, real, or digital. Just be thankful you're not in MW2, where you can't hit a helo at 25m.

I have noticed the RPG's are hard to use. I think overall they just need to be more accurate. Hopefully that deviation overhaul will cover this. What I really wish was possible is an RPG-16.

Modern Firearms - RPG-16 antitank grenade launcher

Pure badass.

Funny my very first post on these forums was an RPG moan thread (when thay first messed them up in 8.6) and you know I still stand by that post to this day

Ever shot one from cover?if you wait a nano second to short it will hit the wall, window ledge or what ever is near you at an impossable trajectory thus pwning yourself :d uh:

So stuipid and unrealistic I hardly ever use them as thay make me die a little inside knowing thay used to work well :(

Logi, humvee and 4 infantry building a FOB 2 blocks away from me. I am on 3rd floor of apt. building. Wait 10 seconds. Fire. Rocket hits windowsill. I explode.

It also shows on that PDF that they self destruct around 900m. And I'm also wondering why you explode trying to fire a rocket from the ground, is this just a glitch that's unfixable? Because it says they are trained to fire from prone, kneel, and standing positions. And it only needs 2 meters of freespace behind it to fire, that's interesting.
