Motorola X205 Headset's failed. Which one shall I buy?

I have been using a Motorola X205 headset (says logitech once installed) The mic started crackling really loud making it unusable so I started using another headset (exact same make) which has started doing the same. I've read this can be caused by stretching the wire etc.
I now need another headset to play the game that doesn't cost megabucks. The headset's crackle in window's aswell as the game and I gave my pc a fresh install just to make sure. I don't have a soundcard either so I'm convinced it is the headsets failing.

Can anyone suggest me a decent headset please that doesn't cost a fortune but performs well, any help much appreciated, Thanks :)

try checking your sound options first rudd gace me some great advice for this once. can't remember what it was though.

It might be that your sound playback through your mic is comming through your headphones was this crackling confirmed by freinds on PR or other SQ members?

Confirmed by squad members. I also tested it in the mic test in battlefield and I just plugged it in my laptop and its crackling like mad on that too. I just don't understand how 2 headsets which have hardly been used have broke so quick :s

On my gaming rig I use Logitech Z5500 5.1 speaker system for my sound through optical input. The talk from squad members comes through this also and I talk throgh the headset.
Baffled I am

Sorry for posting in wrong section and thanks :)
