Happened today. I've got no clue what the hell is it, or why did it happen. I tried new drivers but nothing happened. Those little dots are damn annoying.

Help?

to me this looks like either
a) driver problem
b) overheating issue / other hardware fault related to graphics card
c) virus

I suggest running a virus scan Free antivirus - Avira AntiVir
Check your temperatures: SpeedFan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Reinstall/update latest drivers. If you recently upgraded drivers, revert to old ones.
Also as for over heating you might want to make sure the fan is clean and dust free.

"Artifacts", and yes they usually appear when your GPU overheats, or is faulty.

I just cleaned it, and problem still persists. New drivers, same problem. It's Sapphire HD 4850... could it be that they are keen to do that?

What is the reported temperature?
Does this appear before Windows start up too?

Temperature spins around 40 Celsius. Those stains do appear sometimes on the startup.

It looks like your video card is showing signs of failure. Re-seat your card after cleaning the contacts on the card. You could try vacuuming any dust from the slot it's installed in. That's all I can advise if the temperature is normal and the drivers are up to date.

Your computer might have the measles... or chickenpox?

Thanks for all answers, this thread was helpful.

I had to delete every single piece of software and then re-install all the stuff. Also, cleaning the GPU slot also might have helped.

Cheers.
