I am hand painting a map that I am working on.
By default the editor allows six slots to create texture color swatches.

Does this mean that I can only use 6 unique color/texture combinations on my map?

Or can I paint with one style. Save my progress and then over write that swatch with a new one to add more variations of terrain throughout my map?

you can have a max of 6 detail textures, however if you look on the left and select colour you can paint just the colour on, and you can choose whatever colour you want to do this with, select color rather tha texture underneath teh color button and you can even pain a solid colour on.

the colourtexture is just set to a detailtexure for ease of painting both at the same time, but you can change your colourtextures as much as you like, however the detailtextures are always assigned to 1-6, you can change the detailtexture but it'll just change all of the texture you painted in to the new texture in the same positions.

I see. That does help though. Because having mottled colored grass and then lush green grass - reguardless of it it is the same texture will help created enough diversity. Especially once overgrowth is added later on.
