So how do I make a map that is say, Taliban versus Hamas?

check other maps init.con
for example other maps Blufor vs Blufor (silent eagle) or a Blufor Faction as Opfor like IDF on Beirut

Okay, well I still have a problem. There is no Hamas_team1 or Taliban_team1 what should i do?

Will I have to create these?

Yes. Check the russians for an example of that.

Alright well I made a new one, and it's giving me the texture not found menu/minimap//minimap_cp ****. I hate that error.

Anything you can think of?

Since Hamas and Taliban are by default team1 I set it so that Taliban was set as team2. taliban_team2 then I wrote that into the init, but I'm still getting this error.

Do you have a serverarchives.con for the map? Make sure to have that and that it's correct - check other maps for examples.

I think that mechanism will change in v0.95, but for now you should still use it that way.

I do have one, that's why it's making me mad.

You sure the contents are correct?

I'm certain. Here's what they are:

Code: Select all

fileManager.mountArchive ../pr/inits/factions_common.zip factions_common
fileManager.mountArchive ../pr/inits/factions_hamas.zip factions_hamas
fileManager.mountArchive ../pr/inits/factions_taliban.zip factions_taliban

figured it out the ../pr/inits before the rest was wrong. That's weird though because that's what made it work with the blufor team.

So now the question is. How do I make a installer to install these files into the players folders? That would be an awesome tutorial if there was one.

Okay so now i'm getting kicked from servers because my factions_taliban.zip isn't correct. WTF

Is there no way for me to do this without creating a whole new faction?

Are you editing in "mods/pr" then? Probably, as you're getting kicked.. Don't make any changes in any files in the PR dir, rather create a "pr_edit" (copy of pr-folder) and work in there.

If you still want to use the pr-folder instead of a pr_edit, still, don't make changes to zipfiles, rather add them to your map-folder and include them through the map's init.con and serverarchives.con.

And you don't have to create an entire faction, you only need the correct .con files.

Yes I did that, but I put it into the regular PR to play with a friend.

What I'm saying is that when people download it how are they going to get around this problem? I can just change the file and have everyone being kicked out of servers because they installed this map. That's why I'll have to create a new faction.

A friend of mine and I would really like it if you guys put the Team 2 option in ALL factions. That way it'd be A LOT more convenient to mappers and modders.

You just have to put the necessary files inside the map's folder. Like, additional zipfiles you include via server/client archives. So if you need to change ANY files of regular PR, don't do it, just include them through client- and serverarchives and you're good to go.

And no, you don't have to create a faction, you only need the .con files.
And no, we're not gonna create alternatives, just because you don't 100% understand how it works?

I suggest you do it the old-fashioned way: put the kits in the map's init.con...

Wait! So how exactly do I point it to those files. I also changed the kits to all have a certain weapon. How do I make it so no kits are requestable?
