so i seen the trailer for the new M24 (awesome looking btw) but i have a concern the magnification on the scope seems less then its zoomed in counter part so my question is there going to be anyway to have 2 layers of zoom for it like the m14 has lower for undeployed and a farther one for deployed could the same system be used in the m24 format by making 2 different selectable zooms like one x5 and one x10 etc. the reason i ask this is because i am scared i will not be able to see things on muttrah city when on the hills with my m40a3 if i can't see anything in the scope im not suggesting doing this yet im asking A. is it possible to have 2 platforms for zoom with the sniper rifles and B. is the magnification the same and i just can't tell cause its a youtube video

I believe, it is possible to have multiple zoom layers within the same weapon slot.
IIRC It used to be the case for sniper rifles and the GLTD. Hit right click, then hit right click again!

The Leupold Mk.4 LR/T M3 10x40mm optic used on the M24 is a fixed 10x optic only.

it is possible to have multiple zoom levels in one slot, i think you can theoretically have unlimited levels
as for whether or not the zoom will have mutliple levels is totally dependant on the scope that is modelled on the rifle, as i believe the one featured on the M24 is a fixed zoom scope. Can't recall what the M40 has, i think its 2, but i don't know how powerful
the GLTD used to have two levels, but it caused lag or some similar problem hence why it only has 1 level now
that answer it all?
edit: ofc chuc would ninja me

just look at that userbar!

oh really its a fixed x10 i didn't realize that is it x10 in PR cause it doesn't really seem x10 to me
according to wikipedia the m40 uses an fixed 12x50

M40A3 has a Schmidt & Bender 3-12 x 50. 3-12 is the amount of magnification, so adjustable from 3 to 12 times magnification. 50 is the diameter of the front lense in millimeters.

oh 3-12 meant that it goes from 3 to 12 didn't know that thanks and i doubt they'ed add the adjustable zoom for the m40 because it'd prolly lag like the GTDL

No.. well at least in the next version 2 stage zoom will return to the GTLD (and also on all applicable sniper rifles), but without the smooth transition between each stage.

so instead of going gradually in it just swaps from one to another im fine with that as long as GTLD has 2 step zoom again im happy

Good to hear! The GLTD now zooms in WAY too far to be used in anything but long range.

well in real life danger close for a airstrike is what 600m's? or is that arty so you'd be doing it at long range (arty's 300? or 350? or is that airstrike 300 or 350 and arty 600?)

In real life the safety distances for air assets are a lot bigger than that. In wartime they get ignored a bit, but they're a lot bigger than that.
600m is less than 155's safety distance I think.

155 have a 200m danger radius...
