So my PC keep turning its self off when playing PR/ARMA, first thought was over heating.....but no, CPU, GPU all under 60?

So tested RAM......No errors after 7 sweeps with Memtest.

have a 800w PSU, so cant lack of power (only running 1 GTX 260 GPU, and quad core phantom)

Is there nothing I can run in the background that will log the reasions for the crashes?

Its driving me mad!!!!!!! :x

Run Furmark to stress your GPU to make sure that's not the issue

Run IBT or P95 to stress your CPU to make sure it's not the issue

Then try swapping out the PSU for an equivalent one and run your games to make sure it's not the PSU

You can also try to check the windows logs right after this crash happens and when you?re computer have started up again. If you?re lucky the reason gets logged and then you have a higher chance of finding out the reason.

It can also be a driver that isn?t working as it?s supposed to. But that?s pretty hard to find out unless you find something in the logs.

You can find the logs if you right click on Computer/my computer and then manage. From there I think you will be able to find them yourself. But it can be really hard to find just the right event.

How long should I run the stress tests for?

Minimum about half an hour I'd say

Furmark stress test for 30min+

FPS
min=64 max=635 average=82

(temps went up-to 84 after about 10mins then stayed stable for the rest of the test at 84) - no crash

Very interesting. I'll brainstorm in the morning but I'm off to bed now. Hopefully you have it sorted by the time I wake up :)

Well on the plus side you seem to have isolated you:
- Memory
- CPU
- GPU
As not being the problem :)

That leaves two major components
- Sound Card
- PSU

The sound card is a strange one but more people have issues than you'd think.
Kushluk wrote:I had the exact same problem. After numerous formats and hardware changes I found out that windows update was installing a bad version of the realtek audio driver.
The PSU might have enough watts, but a manufacturing fault or something could be causing unstable flow or other such issues. This is tested by swapping out the PSU.

Well, I seen this, but not on ARMA or PR. It might be the VIDEO CARD. It can cause the PC to restart if it shuts down or overheats.

Put your nose by the power supply while the computer is on and smell it.

If you smell burnt plastic, it may well be your power supply.
If you don't smell anything, borrow or purchase a power supply tester to ensure that your motherboard is receiving adequate power.

Has there been any recent storms? Is your computer protected with a surge protector?
