short: In general, "probably" yes.
long: You have to know that answering this question is not that easy. There are dozens of settings in NVIDIA control panel which influence the quality and performance of your machine.
For example "all high" in NVIDIA control panel would mean 16x supersampling which (aside from being totally unneccessary imho) is overkill computational wise and might give you low fps in BF2.
also: BF2 is using an old engine which is simply not optimized for the newer cards so you will not see their full potential being used like in other newer games such as COD:MW2 or BFBC2.
I am currently running 2 GTX 460 SLI on "all high", 1920x1200 with alot of nvidia settings set for quality (not default). And am getting smooth gameplay but also occasionally (depending on map and direction I am looking at) FPS as low as 25. That said, you will still occasionally experience low fps due to the engine limitations even though your cards should perform better.

I've got a Nvidia Geforce 250 1GB Sli and I'm currently running PR at all high and 8xaa. I average about 40-50 fps, but it is different for every map. Some maps i have 80-90 fps and others have 25-40 fps. So far It hasn't gone under 25 unless I'm in a big city map like Gaza and theres a hell of alot going on which is rare or unless I've got fraps filming.

I have a GeForce 9500GT and I can run everything but lighting on High (lighting=medium) with 8x AA. I have found that lighting is a relatively HUGE performance drainer and is not essential to good game play. I always have super high FPS (i think 75) and only experience lag on slow/far away servers.
An amazing card is not needed to run PR on max settings.
