Does CA cause issues

I noticed that on the Combined Arms site it says the download for .9982 includes PR .87 Does this overwrite my .91 version and cause issues with PR:BF2? Or did they just forget to update the site to say .91?

To my knowledge Combined Arms has not been in development for some time, at least 3 months or so.

@Smiddey, It crashes because you dont have .87, and here is what you can do so you do not lose .91:
1. Rename /mods/pr to /mods/pr91 or whatever
2.Install .87 (it will install as pr)
3.Install CA 9982
4.Play CA
5.When you want to play PR.91 rename pr to pr87 and pr91 to PR and it will work

I hope you understood

Actually, you shouldn't have to rename them every time, you can just rename one of them and leave it like that even when you play it.... at least that's how it worked for me when I played different versions of some other game.

I believe that CA is sort of in development, sort of not in development. There's apparently an enormous backlog of work to fix HUDs. I also presume that the release of PR .95 will break CA once more, so.. yeah.

Considering that the only post for more than a month on their forums is you asking some question about AFV armour and getting no reply, it's not looking good is it ;)

It's hard enough for new mods to get players on the BF2 engine, even more so when it's basically a mirror of an existing mod with a few tweaks and new huds.

Plus we folded one of their developers, the good sir Sniperdog into our team.

I really like how they did the huds in CA. Is there any possibility of some features in CA merging with PR? Or is there some competition and/or ease of use factors involved?

CA in relation to PR is like Torro Rosso for Red Bull.

:)

On the contrary, there are one or two items from CA that are already in PR. ;)

**tears the duct tape from his mouth and runs out of the basement**

It's all a coverup to stop CA making progress! First SniperDogg get's made a DEV and then me a CON meaning we have more pressing matters to get on with than do stuff for CA

It's all a coverup I tell you!!1!!!

**runs out the fire exit**

Well, I would like to see more things from CA implemented into PR.

What CA add is pretty much vehicle realism, but it doe also bring a problem to whoever want to add it into a "fun realist gamplay game". Where the fun in aircraft if the tunguska got you on Radar 2 miles away and shot you down as easy a you kill a mosquito with you're finger ? Wheres the fun if you're AH64D is able to detect every vehicle in a range of 2 click and engage it with hellfire ? Where the fun if you're F16 carry AG radar also capable of detecting anything and lock a LGB on it ( all by himself ) ?

All vehicles have the functions and capabilities, that's why the tanks must be protected by AA, helicopters protected by jets/tanks, it's like a chain. Everyone MUST protect eachother, or else they're as worthless as a used condom. Tanks should NEVER roam out unless AA is there to defend.

Plus they have the physics of the helicopters/jets that in my opinion, is FAR superior than PRV. No more flying upside down. :)

btw it looks like CA has renamed their version of the pr install to pr_ca so that it doesn't affect PR:bf2

There has not been a new version out for .9, and now .95 is coming out very soon, when the new release of CA is out, it will probably have to be after .95

Probably whenever the devs finally work through their backlogs and decide to make one final version...
