Im sure alot of you know about the controversy taking place with the new Modern Warfare game. If not, read this article:

So Im curious, have the PR Devs felt any pressure to change the names of certain factions (like the Taliban, Iraqi Insurgents etc) so as not to offend anyone? Personally, I dont care what they are called, we all know who they are. Since the big uproar with Modern Warfare is that players can play as the Taliban, I find it surprising that no one has gotten on PRs case yet (to my knowledge) since we have been able to play as the Taliban for quite some time now. Maybe its because PR is less well known than Modern Warfare, which is too bad because PR blows any MW out of the water imo.

Which also brings me to my second point, that articles talks about a "new breed of realistic shooters", that shows how ahead of the curve PR has been for years now. If realistic shooters become the next big thing in the FPS world, PR may get a nice influx of new players.

But as PR does not sell its product, nobody is really going to care.

Ima lol when PR2 comes out and people are like RAWR!!!!! TALIBAN!!! RAWR!!!

Then we're like we have active soldiers in many different armed forces that are working on the game and don't mind the Taliban fact so couack couack says the duck!

If there still is a war going on when PR2 comes out.

I bet a few hundred years ago it wasnt ok to play the indians... LOL

You know how to stop this from happening? Don't even discuss it, let alone come up with hypotheticals of what could happen.

The more people get scared, the more chance there is of PR getting canned for having this type of content. It is - and always will be - a niche gaming sector, so we as the community should aim to keep it like that.

Don't discuss PR about having this content on any other forum, including 'well PR has this so it could be next', I'll tell you now there are people out there who would report this stuff if they got the chance.

And with that this thread should be locked, fear and speculation spread like a yeast infection.

i think PR is kinda flying under the radar here. its not a retail game, and therefor not heavely advertised. and with the age of BF2, i doubt that anyone remembers it, much less a mod for it(no offence Devs). as Fighter pointed out, no one in the community seems to have a problem with it. it feels odd to me that i dont feel bad when i play as the taliban and go blowing up humvees with ieds.

edit: although dtacs is right, we probably shouldnt discuss it further.

Dtacs is right, but there really shouldn't be a target on PRs back. You could probably make a mod about killing hookers and kidnapping children, as long as nobody is making any money off of it.

Don't worry about it.

No government that holds its people's freedom as a core value will "outlaw" project reality. Unless you are in a country that's run by paranoid dictators, you have nothing to worry about.

Wait so how are we going to keep PR a secrete and at the same time advertise a new release?

Generally happens to popular, mainstream games so the fear-mongerers and the parents who put their children in plastic bubbles and bubble wrap their house can get their kicks for a couple days while intelligent, balanced and reasonable people argue with them.

The controversy is about Medal of Honor, not Modern Warfare.

I think you're being paranoid, publicity is fine.

You can play as the Taliban, lay IEDs and use civilians as human shields.

Why would you even say something like that? That isn't publicity, its blatantly creating cause for argument by saying something touchy...

I was merely stating what players can do in the mod, relevant to the recent controversy.

Guys calm down your taking this too seriously. There are a couple of mods out there that portray the Iraqi insurgency. Nothing has happened to them and nothing will happen to PR. You guys don't have to live in the shadows in fear of Fox news.

Exactly....it's just a news story. The way some people are going on about it make it seem like we're all going to be targeted by the FBI and assassinated. Project Reality portrays realism. Taliban and Insurgents are real. Trying to deny that is just completely and utterly stupid, just some politicians ranting trying to stir an uproar, and the media trying to get a story out of it.

And guess what would happen? Absolutely nothing. Project Reality is already a niche game, it will always be a niche game. We don't have the sort of publicity woes to look out for like big commercial games.

So hell, I'm going to keep playing PR with my Taliban, Hamas, and Insurgents - then telling people about it - and not give a damn about some muppets who want some attention by calling it out. Assuming they ever do, let them. Nobody is going to lose but them.

Unfortunately PR2 isnt coming out anytime soon, it would be a great way to get their name out there.

All this "controversy" about video games being in modern setting, and having the TALIBAN fighting US forces, it's all BS, how come MoH got so much **** for it, JUST because it had you playing as the TALIBAN, when games like MW2 just pussy out and say "Opfor" when IT'S BASICALLY THE SAME THING. PR at least has the balls to say which faction you are "fighting" for. Sorry for the rant, but I feel like going off on these people who try to change games from what they were. Fun entertainment.

PR is in a niche market. Even if it was for sale, they have no reason to bend to the whims of people outside that niche. Since MoH is in the mainstream market, they're going to make any amends to make sure their market respects and wants to buy their product.

Who cares.
