I got tired of all the BF2-mod shortcuts I had on my desktop and wanted to reduce them. So, I made a little BF2 launcher . It works on my pc so far, it'd be nice if you could try it out as well.

Here's what it looks like right now, plain and simple:
Looks shit. What does it do?
It's a simple ".hta" file. HTA stands for "Html Application". It reads the BF2-path from the registry, reads the mods from your mod-directory and auto-selects any previous selected options (mod, resolution, fullscreen, debugger). The .hta file is located online, so you don't have to download anything. Plus, updates are automatically loaded when you start the launcher, easy eh?
All information is stored in cookies, those are stored on your pc. NOTHING is saved online (check the source code if you don't believe me ).


How to run?
Easy, create a new shortcut, put the following line in the target:
You can give the shortcut any icon you want, so your desktop does not contain a lame icon . Anyway, launch the shortcut and the BF2 Launcher will be loaded.

I need help!
Missing a resolution? A mod doesn't have a decent name displayed? Anything else? Post here and I'll see what I can do. Please note, I'm not gonna spend too much time on fixing "bugs", since it works like a charm on my pc .

Nice! I only have PR installed so it wont be needed for my needs ^_^ (FH is on my external hard-disk with its own copy of BF to go with).

It doesn't work for me with debugger option,but otherwise its good.

Do you guys even have bf2_r.exe?

Does this work with the FH2.exe? Otherwise it could mess u your shaders if you start FH2 with it.

What does ''debugger'' mean anyway? Ive seen people talk about Debugging more often. What does it do? And why is it needed in some cases?

This option is handy for mappers for example. Like, sometimes your map crashes. If you run BF2 through the debugger, it logs all the errormessages and in most cases, the one that crashes your map is logged as well.

If you only play PR (or any other BF2 mod for that matter) you don't need to use it.

I tested it with Dutch forces but it didnt load at all for some reason.

That's probably because it wants to launch [mod-folder]\pr.exe - which doesn't exist yet. Copy your pr.exe into the pr_daf_repo folder and try again (if it works, repo it as well ).

i dont need this since the only thing that i play on BF2 engine is PR
