Hi all! Im about to install my PR on the new computer with win 7!!!
Plz share some basics in order to minimize risc of probs??

My plan: install bf2 with its updates to 1.5 then restart even thou might not be needed
and then onward with PR core first and maps...

My new spcs are: i5-750 w 4gb ram hd4890 win7 ultimate 64bits gigabyte p55-ud2

Perhaps wait a few days or a week for .95 to come out since it will be a complete install.


I believe it goes install BF2, patch to 1.41, patch to 1.5, install PR map and core

I recommend deactivating UAC for the time of installing BF2 and PR.
It is necessary to run PR with administrator privileges. ("Run as Administrator")
It is generally not necessary to run PR with any compatibility option besides "Run this program as an administrator".

But I have no clue to what UAC is? Some component in win 7 is my guess.....but it stops there... how do?

Reason for original question is: the new hardware came with win7.....im totally new to win7, and not much good at anything else computerwise!!!

might be offtopic: but i tried 3dmark vantage the other day but it wouldnt work cause of some "three letter problem" similar to "UAC" (dont remember excact name) saying it couldnt access "hardware monitoring"... is it the same?

Well anyways this has been helpful so far and the upcomin upgrade will be in handy since i get to start from absolute scratch!

UAC= User Account Control
Basically it asks you if you want to run an app before the app starts. This is very annoying for most at first, but is overall good to have because it lets you know before any apps run (like a Trojan or virus) under your nose without you even knowing it. Better safe than sorry.

The other one your referring to I'm gonna guess is DEP.

If you disable UAC, (google it), you should have no issue with Win7 and BF2 games and mods. I've been using 7 since the open beta and haven't had any major PR/BF2 related issues.

Also on your old PC copy and back up your profiles folder within the Bf2 folder inside MY DOCUMENTS. Onced you have installed and patched BF2 overright the new profiles folder with your backup. This will stop you having to re-do any none default key mappings and joystick inputs.

NWA ORF>>>>> done, and allways done it....but only my "profiles 0001 and controls" - got 2 copies: 1st is basic where i can use prone in the right key (for me its left cntrl!) 2nd is the last config i had with joystick and all workin, and this will be the first 1 i will try!
OK I will google "disable UAC" and try that before intstall!

Additional question>>> when is the proper time to retrieve my accounts?? I was thinkin after the BF2 1.5 patch and try playing..... then if that works go on with complete PR install???
