Limited Kit for TOWs

I was reading the discussion in the other thread about TOWs, and I read this.
dtacs wrote: Awhile ago I set up a TOW to shoot buildings in the B3 area on Karbala to destroy a cache. Shooting over 20 shots (IIRC, rebuilding twice), that equates to over $3.6 million US dollars worth of hardware used by a single soldier, when trained infantry are meant to do the job.

Is it realistic that a sniper, infantry officer, medic or simple grunt can use a system which takes special training?

So, if the TOWs require specialized training I think its safe to assume the regular rifleman would not know how to operate one. Which bring me to the suggestion, make the TOW like a vehicle in that it needs a special kit to operate.

I'd say the kit that most fits this role would be crewman, seeing as he is the stand in for all infantry that have had specialized training relating to vehicles and such.

So...why?

Pros: TOW sniping might be reduced a little bit, as I think a squad won't want to give up one of its kits just to fire a TOW. It might make dedicated TOW squads start popping up, like logistics for death. Its semi-realistic.

Cons :P eople will complain. It could be a hindrance.

If we had TOWs that were [kit] limited people wouldn't build them all over the place like they do now, and they might need dedicated squads and improve gameplay. Seeing as everyone was complaining about TOWE sniping, I think this would be an OK middle ground, the people who want to still can, and the people who hate it see a reduced presence.

I can't see this bringing about positive change. You will request the crewman kit to operate it and then when you're done, change back to your old kit. If your old kit has disappeared or has been taken by someone, assuming that you used to be a rifleman, you're going to need to request a special kit or wander around with the crewman kit. Most people will probably choose the former option here.

We probably won't see these used for destroying an entire neighborhood anymore, or any other odd tasks too often, since we're going to have mortars available soon. I also feel that, as far as skill or training would go, first take a look at the insurgent team that can resupply and use heavy weapons acquired from the coalition forces.

All you need to do is select the crewman kit. Your kit you've selected will last for 5 mins on the ground, and can be cycled if necessary. Won't really change anything, besides being annoying.

I agree with deviant here, its just a minor annoyance that wouldn't really stop it.

The only way the TOW whoring can stop is by adding in WASD controls and decreasing move speed to stop the TOW hurricane exploit.

0.95? Or are they not adding that? Makes a lot more sense than a twitch firing TOW.

There was no response when the suggestion thread was made, but you never know, it would only make sense to add it in.

Haji... I like the idea but player count.

Commander
Logistics
Tank
INF
INF2
CAS
APC
SNIPER
HELI TRANS

Plus, it could get VERY boring. I often man TOWS for 5-15 minutes but a dedicated kit would take away from the unfortunate player count imposed on us by BF2.

Already suggested that the TOW humvee require crewman kits, our MAs have said that it is not realistic to have a different kit for TOW soldiers.
