Ultra High X-Fi settings not staying

I have a Creative Labs PCIe X-Fi Titanium on a Windows 7 x64 machine. Seeing that EAX now requires Alchemy for later OS's, I guess something happened here too.

When going into the sound settings and selecting "Creative X-Fi/ Ultra High/Eax", I get an error message saying my hardware is incompatible with the settings ive chosen. Upon re-entering the menu it defaults back to "Hardware/ High/ EAX".

Is this as high as it will go, or am I missing something?

Thanks!

i dont have exactly the same soundcard as you do, but a quite similar, and i experienced a similar problem.

i have the creative PCIe x-fi xtreme music and as i remember correctly it was about the chosen sound mode. do you have some selections in your main audio settings like "Game Mode", "Music Mode" or "Record Mode"?

if yes, try switching between the modes until you find the right one, im quite sure that this solved my problem also back then. i was able to choose whatever ingame sound options that i liked to and it didnt forbid me to use ultra high anymore.

Lol, see my thread right after you....

Creative X-FI @ Ultra High = BSOD.

I have Titanium Champion Series.

You don't need Alchemy as BF2 already have support for OpenAl. You have an updated driver in system32 folder, wrap_aol.dll. Copy it into BF2 Folder and rename to BF2OpenAL.DLL

But im warning you, youll get BSOD during the map or after finishing a map and loading the other.
