Challenger Sound

anyone else have the fun of walking through the city and hearing the challenger but not realizing it, we were trying to figure out if it was an ambient sound or not :P any who we find out its a tank it goes boom :D awesome sound effects devs

i was playing Archer not too long ago and there was this sound that i thought was the mortars. turns out it was the LAV fireing half way across the map. i dont remember ambient sounds like this, but i really like it.

Yeah the challenger sounds are terrific, was driving one today on Fools and it feels much more solid and realistic now. Very impressive.

Sounds awesome from the inside too, I imagine lots of the sound improvements can be observed from the outside though. YouTube - [PR 0.95] Challenger 2s on Dragon Fly

Driver needs a lead foot though, takes like 5 seconds to get a move on :p

Glad you like the new sounds guys, they were great fun to record and I'm sure there will be lots more going ingame as the editing guys keep working through the backlog.......I think my favourites are the CR2 interior sounds and the 30mm Rarden cannon from the Scimi\Warrior.......lovely stuff :D

Jaymz and Sofad did a great job on the bf2 engine work, and I think you guys will like Twisted and Sofads Arma2 sounds as well......


Now, if only we knew some Russian tank crews.....

First thing that came to mind when I first heard the Challenger sounds ingame (the distant sound of approaching Tiger tanks at 2:38 ).

Really true, the sounds are great. I'd even buy some kind of "Project Reality - Vehicle Soundtrack", smuggle it into a cinema and listen the sounds there :D Imagine the challenger there with surround sound ;)

But I guess thats unlikely so maybe a donation is still okay? I hope you guys repeat some recordings for more factions soon.

I was driving the Warrior yesterday night and holy ****. I had a smile over my face everytime i accelerated :D

As iam playing on a 5.1 System with an X-Fi its even more awesome. I really LOVE the sound of that apc.
I was exited like a little kid yesterday night.

Very well done guys!

I really Hope you get the chance to record some more vehicles sounds to get that amazing feeling for more vehicles into the game.


((A friend of mine will be driving an MT-LB next summer. A co-worker got some nice hand held Recording device (smting like this. Could we maybe do some recordings for you there?))
Okay nevermind, just found out about your Sound-trip. I don't think we could come close to that detailed sound-recording you did there. Holy awesomeness! :D

Only problem is how bugged the Challenger is on Dragonfly. We got stuck in a crater that came up out of nowhere in the centre of the city, and my gunner simply turned his barrel around and POP out we go, flipped up into the air and out of the crater.

Not to mention moving around is a pain as the gun moves the tank back for some reason as its mesh seems to have priority over the tank itself, meaning the tank moves around the gun instead of the other way around.

thnx for the donation, JeffCole. it has duly arrived and is very much appreciated! :D

all we need to do more recordings for other faction are some good door openers, so we "only" have to fight with the travel costs and can get access to the monsters of the other factions in a similar way we had for the british. :)

sounds like he is visiting one of the tank driving schools in germany!?
a recording with one of these handy recorders can be decent though, if done right! :) but i think anyone that owns a pocket recorder knows how to operate it. he sure owns it for a reason.. ;)
