Disclaimer: I am not proposing this as a serious change. I'm throwing the following out there as an intellectual discussion.
To my understanding, Iron Eagle had jets at some point during testing, but these were removed for some reason to make way for attack helos. If a layer of the map were to feature 3 fighter jets (F-16s & MiG-29's) for each side, along with two transport choppers... how do you think it would play? Were you in a position to handle balancing, how would you adjust the GPO (GamePlay Objects) to make this balanced? Are there other maps you feel it would work better on?

(IMO) Three fighter jets ( F-16 / Mig - 29 ) on each side would be two to many. A pilot would rarely get to focus on CAS missions due to the threat of an enemy fighter getting on your back.
Its something you often see on Kashan alt version ( 32 ). The one with attack helicopters. The Helis dont perform CAS because they want to make sure the enemy heli is down first.
On the other hand with 3 jets it might add the possibility of flying in formations which would lead to the magical resault of having to use teamwork in the air. That would be a dream come true, sadly it might also lead to one team being bombarded completely with three bomb capable aircraft in the air.
Edit:
Perhaps the Name was choosen in particular for jets ?

The jets were removed because it was physically impossible to land them.

The entire problem with giving more assets than we already have is behind balance. One side can achieve an edge so easily, and after that, it's just air supremacy for one team deciding the whole battle. Not saying it ain't realistic, but it's in the interests of having a fun game.

That song was the loading music during the test builds. I want it back.

I believe you, but I'd also like to see for myself. Being a BF2 modding incompetent, I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could modify and send me a build of the map that includes at least one jet for each side at the start. If you can send, PM me and I'll give you an e-mail address to send to. Or, if there's a more straightforward method of putting them in, let me know.

Mission accomplished. Was able to test flying on the map for both sides, and landing as well. Conclusion: landing the planes is not a technical issue on this build of the map. Landed on both airstrips with the IDF F-16 and MEC Mig with no stress. It was no more difficult to land than pre-deforested Abandoned Airfield on Silent Eagle.

Months of training on Silent Eagle pre-version .957 accounts for most of that ease.
The procedure for the F-16 is to run 45% thrust until you drop to about 900 speed and on approach. At this power you can still maneuver and still have lift. Point nose at close end of runway and cut power when about 200 meters away. Raise nose as landing. Piece of cake, no need to bail before end.
