Battlefield 2 will not launch!

Not entirely sure what section this belongs in so I'm posting this here.

I recently purchased Battlefield 2 on Steam so I could play Project Reality.

After waiting like the hour I waited to let it download I went to install it, and the installation appeared to go smoothly, but when I go to launch it, it just does exactly what you see in the video.

Even if I launch it from the .exe and not through Steam, same thing.

I've reinstalled it, defragmented it, verified the integrity of the game cache several thousand times...

I've patched it to 1.5 and it still does this.

Does anyone know what to do here?

PR:BF2 Support - Project Reality Forums

You should probably put it in that section of the forums, more tech people to help you out :)

I was originally going to but I figured that section of the forums is more 'reserved' for threads relating to problems with Project Reality :P

Probably better off taking this one to the Steam forums.

I have posted this to the Steam forums, EA forums, and here, as well as FPSBanana

Still no replies accept for this one :P

I would hazard a guess that perhaps Steam has not been granted UAC control (or you didn't install steam on an admin account) ?

Before patching with 1.5 you have to apply patch 1.41.
But I dont think you should manually patch steam games at all. This how ever might have cause a problem.

Add the windowed mode short cut/launch property "+fullscreen 0" to get an error message.
