Yesterday I went out and bought Battlefield 2 in hopes to be playing PR with my clan members. After having many problems with Windows 7, I finally got it to where I could load up PR and BF2. My first game was just a COOP game with not a lot of people, so I could learn the basics. The first thing I noticed, lag. It didn't really seem like ping lag, but more or less performance lag. My computer is defiantly not a power horse but it's enough to max out BF2. Specs at bottom of page*. Anyways, that was all fine as it seemed to clear up later, but I was still noticing lag spikes. Again, performance lag spikes. As my ping was staying the same. Then after a little bit of COOP, I tried out the PvP aspect. Couldn't join a game. Whenever I did, I either got kicked by PB(fixed after downloading it again) or got some stupid memory error. Some ctd's just happened with no error report. I don't know if this is because of the latest patch, but as of now PR is not as exciting as it had seemed.

Try to lower your Graphic settings.

PR has WAY higher minimum requirements then BF2, because they blew the BF2 engine up beyond any known limits. Just think about the Map size, sound quality and so on.
