tried asking a few devs but apparently they're immune to private messaging from forum members, so i'll ask here if anyone knows how long the grappling hook stays deployed? i tried waiting over half an hour but it was still deployed. i'm currently translating the manual and also have a grappling hook guide video where this info is needed. tried looking in the mod files as well but i couldn't find it.

From changelog:

Updated grapple hook to (in theory) last much longer in the world (originally around 1 minute).

^^^ that was the original time on the grappling hook. he wants to know the modified one.

is there anyway to remove it,

If your defending an attack and kill the enemy can you remove the rope they used to climb over, or just have to watch that area untill it expires

That time doesn't make any sense, we should get it back to normal.

To remove it, you should have a kit with the grapple and after using yours, you can pickup the enemy one. It's very annoying to do, that's the reason why we had it expiring after 1 min. A little longer I guess would be fine, but 1 min was fine as well. You usually just want to go over something and that's it.

1 min sucked, especially when you got yourself stuck on a roof. 30mins seems fine.

Definitely needs to be longer than a minute if the time is shortened again. One minute was really annoying, especial if you leave it out for teammates only to have your precious hook disappear

Not 100% sure but its a bloody long time as far as I remember I see one last a whole round in al bazra but i dont have exact numbers.

I like how ropes dont magicaly vanish into thin air now.Could a system be made that it stays but anyone can pick it up IE make it go away after a few mins?

The rope is mainly a way to get around the engines limits in soldiers being able to climb things and it does it well. I have yet to see a soldier climb a rope with battle gear IRL. It's a game balance thing.
To have ropes stay long is in no way annoying. It makes tactical use of the rope way easier and enchants teamplay. What's annoying is ropes disapering for who ever is left behind to cover his squad from a roof top.

Make it disappear after 1 minute if the guy who threw it died, and 10 minutes otherwise?

To have ropes staying for over 45 minutes is very annoying. Considering how some incompetent riflemen specialists would throw their ropes and just move on without picking it up when it expired after 1 minute, they can now just leave it there for enemies to use and many of them forget that they are gonna need it later. A disappearing rope is your own fault, just get yourself used to always picking up the rope, it can always be thrown again.

1 minute was fine.

5 minutes is probably a good compromise, imo.
There is absolutely no reason for any single player to want a rope to be live for 45 minutes. Not to mention that having ropes alive in the game so long is a waste.

If you're leaving a rope sitting for longer than 5 minutes, you're just not paying attention to it.

I say 5-10 minutes. Anything over 20 is ridiculous.
