[0957] When C4'd, a cache doesn't explode.

by dtacs
Description:
A C4 placed directly on a cache and detonated does not cause the cache to explode violently in the way it does when incendiaries are used. It simply has the little 'metal' explosion as if a dead asset was exploding when its model reaches the end of its life on a map.
Its unknown if it causes any damage when standing next to it, but it it silent, as if it was exploding in space.
Steps to Reproduce:
The C4 must be placed directly on the cache model and blown after about 15 or so seconds.
Tested On:
GamingAU BigD Server 2 - Kokan and Fallujah.

similar problem here. yesterday i was engangin a cache without beeing spotted, put c4 on it, ran 100meters away, and detonated. i was exspecting the sounds of explosion , but heared nothing but the cache was destroyed.
strange.

i dont think this is a bug buit more intentional, seeming the cache should have incedary instead of explosives

C4 makes LOT of noise and generally levels anything within 25m of it. Intentional my arse.

Actually it seems like C4 does this whenever it is placed directly upon an object which can be destroyed.
The same effect occurs for doors AFAIK...
Maybe it's a vBF2 bug?

Also, I think u need far more Ins. grenades to destroy a cache. Bout' 6 or so.

guys, u are missing the point. cache is destroyable with c4, there is just no noise

I know...
I just said it doesn't make any sound if the C4 is directly attached to some destroyable objects.

Yes but loud explosions make PR players happy.

Never happened to me but...
When the engineer was a spawnable kit (also had c4), not sure what ver but might have been 0.75. You would put the C4 on a fb base and blow it. There would be no noise nor explosion however the base of the fb would disappear. I believe that is what is happening here.

We had a CE toss c4 out the back of our BH last night and we heard/saw the explosion from the cache being destroy, maybe it's an issue with putting it right onto the cache? We couldn't hover any closer then say 3-4 meters as the cache was inside a 2nd floor building so I believe the splash dmg finished it off, as opposed to the direct blast.
(Also note we made 6-7 orbits with miniguns blazing to soften the target up, we managed to unload a lot of rounds directly onto the cache)

This is true, however I think its thanks to the players not putting them on the cache at once, my squad took
seven incendiaries however they were spread out over the period of about one minute, instead of having 3 at the same time.
Currently the best strategy to take one out is to literally have the whole squad throw every one they have on it as you'll most likely get re-armed before going for the next one.
