Can't run PR on HD TV

Hi

For the past few hours I've been trying to get PR to work on a Sony Bravia HD TV. When I try to start PR (or vanilla BF2 for that matter) the screen turns black for a few seconds then dumps me back at the desktop.

Tried updating display drivers, changing resolution etc etc, nothing works.

The output on my graphics card is DVI, which is connected to an adaptor to convert it into a HDMI socket, which connects to the TV.

I am running XP Pro 32-bit and the game just flat out refuses to run. My friend's Vista 64-bit laptop works fine.

Suspect it may be a driver issue?

Stu.

I had it set to 60Hz.

I got home this morning and connected the computer to my Toshiba HD TV and it works fine.

Very confused!

Argh!

Right I'm totally baffled now - connected my PC back up to a normal monitor and now PR won't run again! :-x

Symptoms are the same as last time.

Yeah I found that file eventually :P

Was mucking about with it the other night to try to get it to work with the HD TV, just twigged that it might matter and sure enough everything was set to 1920x1080 (my monitor is 1280x1024) - problem solved, sort of.

Anyone have any ideas why it won't work with a Sony HD TV but will with a Toshiba?

Open that video con file up with notepad and change refresh rate to match your TV's rate. That problem occurs when PR's refresh rate is different than the output source's such as TV's.

Hmm... Have you tried to run in clone mode? You can run the game?

And sometimes there is an issue with converters.
