Medics and Grenades

I'm not trying to make a suggestion, more of a question or reason why medics do not have nades.
Medic is my first or second most played kit for many reasons, but I often find myself in a tight spot with a large number of the squad down, and I know where the shooter is, and I can just drop and 'nade in and problem solved. Often I end up throwing smoke, to pull up the SL, and we go from there. However, because of the time it takes for the smoke, and the SL patching up people often die.
So: Why do medics not have grenades?

Because they are out of weapon slots?
Although dropping knife for something useful would be nice.

I'd use a nade more then I've ever used a knife.

Can't say I know of any medics who carried grenades in combat, for a number of reasons.

If it's unrealistic then the answer to the OP is quite obvious.

a medic with nades is exploitable to an extent as you could stand in teh wound distance and survive by self healing during the explosion.
for now just pick up a downed friend's kit to use his nade then throw, swap kit, heal your friend.

Medics in general are not allowed to have grenades in real life and in general medics are not used for assaulting you will only end up wasting a guy who should rather help those who already are down. The weapon to a medic is also more for self defense then as an assault weapon
Its also a balance and gameplay issue if you give them nades they will give out a message that its a attacking kit while its a support kit. A medic also have lots of field dressings and with his medic bag in theory he can be invisible with infinite health.
So no both from a reality stand point and a gameplay standpoint nades to medic should be a no no.

They only carry weapons of personal defense, Geneva Convention bans them from using offensive weapons (im not sure about that but a quick google search says so, also wiki says that shooting a medic with a clear "MEDIC" insignia is a war crime so lul if thats true)

Medics can shoot but they loose their protection from the geneva convention by doing so.
Ofc insurgents and the likes dont really care about such things, but the things is medics are not used as offensive weapons just because they have a gun that can kill does not mean they are to shoot they are there to help wounded and not to wound/kill.
In PR it is alittle different as a played can play as many roles as he likes one sec he is a medic the next he can hold a HAT in his hand and shift over to medic once he has fired his rocket and if the game had been like that a no no target, while still being pretty active and offensive.

It is true, like you said, but they have to be unarmed. Considering most urban combat they insurgents could care less about any rules of engagement, you might as well bring another gun.
Thanks for the responses guys. I understand the blast radius deal, guess I never really thought that one out because I don't think it's something I would do.

I can't remember for the life of me any conventional war where medics weren't targeted despite shooting or not.

Conventional being the key word.

I don't think that makes any sense, given his use of the word
haven't. Medics are always targets, the geneva convention has never been an effective prevention. Just another shiny lie
As to the OP, IMO it's primarily a balance issue - a medic with grenades would be an uber class. As it is, I feel a bit overpowered as a medic, since healing is so quick and easy. With grenades that class would just be insane. Conveniently, it's also not common for medics to carry grenades, and it's out of kit slots anyhow

Still medics are not frontline soldiers equipped with grenades geneva convention or not they are too valuable to give grenades and play room clearing and their primary role is not to use such weapons in the first place.

A medic's duty is save the lives of the individuals fighting in combat, Not to take those lives.
The term "medic" defined as
a member of a military medical corps; corpsman.
Meaning, medical personnel, Medical personnel saves lives, treat wounds and what not, right? There job isn't to take the lives but to save them, Yes they have a rifle, but thats a self defense tool. Any good squad leader will say, don't put your medic on point, because his job, his purpose in the squad is to Save lives. Not to take them.

i consider the fact that the medic can heal unlimited HP and revive downed allies makes them potent enough without grenades.

And If you have "grenade team" of two medics. They can just revive each other if they go down.
+Its not real!
Remove revive opinion if shot anywhere else than Arms/Legs

Medics IRL are usually in the back, to avoid getting shot and to take care of the wounded. Maybe they are not issued nades because command does not want a bunch of panicky medics throwing grenades at their troops from the rear.

IDK Mabey because people in pain tend to grab at things? Last thing you want while your trying to patch someone up is hearing a click plink, looking up and seeing he has a pin in his hand.
