Hey.

So I got a new PC with a 300W PSU.
Now I think I have a faulty PSU because their is a wierd humming noise that comes from the side?

Now I'm wondering if it is because my PSU is failing.
Also, My PSU fan is blowing out warm air, after about 30 mins of the computer being turned on.... while my othr case fan is blowing out cool air?

I have a replacement PSU, but I still want to check out that one because I wanna make sure it won't F*** up my PC.

Any suggestions or help is welcome.

-Smell the power supply, do you smell burnt plastic?
-Borrow a power supply tester to check if the PSU is outputting enough power.
-Could you give some more specs about your computer?
-What brand is your current and replacement PSU?
-When did this humming start? Is it really a humming sound or more of a clicking sound?
-Have you cleaned the dust out of your case recently?
-Do you have a surge protector?

I assume your power supply is mounted on the top of the case, warm air coming out of it would be normal... Unless this is a sudden thing.

2) Ok....I'll get back to you on that
3) Current its a prebuilt PC, so it was made by Gateway, Replacement is a Retail Plus 465W PSU
4) Today, its humming, no clicking from what I hear.
5) Yes this morning, not much as I have only had this PC for about 5 weeks now

It is mounted on top, but I never recall any PSU, let alone this one emitting warm air, just as another note, their is a case fan just below it and it is emitting cold air, so thats where I'm getting my concern from.

If it is any help, the PSU blows out cold air when I turn on the PC, but when it is running for about 30mins it starts to get warm.

System Specs are:

AMD Phenom II x4 810 2.6Ghz
6GB DDR2 RAM
Radeon HD 5450 512MB video card........to that it says it needs 400W. But i only have 300 in my PC, could that be the issue?
Windows 7?
1TB HDD
+
200GB HDD

Well, yeah it will blow hot air eventually. The heat from all of your components will flow upwards and blow out your fan, most of it would come from your CPU.

Did you install that graphics card yourself? Or is it built into the motherboard, "Onboard" graphics.

Oddly enough the Video Card came already put into the Motherboard.....

But I kinda checked a little harder and the noise isn't coming from the PSU, but from the actual card?

Could it be a fan issue on that?
