General Mic/Communication Help

I don't own a mic, which i guess would be a poor choice to play this game, but i figured i could listen to what other people are saying, respond in text, and just generally follow along.

Problem is, i can't hear anyone at all, and when i tried to mess with the VOIP options they would just reset themselves after i pressed "Apply". Even changing the settings in BF2 first, and seeing if that would affect the PR settings did not work.

Do i need Mumble running? Or is there something else i need to do to be able to hear everyone? Thank you for any help that you can give me.

this might be related: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... g-mic.html

maybe its a Vista/Win7 thing

Mumble is simply an addition, bf2 voip should work anyways.
I have no clue as to why voip would be disabled when no mic is in but googling it with regards to Windows rather than BF2 might be worth a shot.

please post your system specs

VOIP not receiving/transmitting

First, i am apologizing, as i have asked about this before, however i became busy and was not able to respond in the last thread and have subsequently become unable to find it. I am deeply sorry for the redundancy.

Anyway; I am having problems with receiving VOIP in game from other players. I have enabled VOIP in BF2 in both the game and in settings.ini, but whenever i try to activate it in Project Reality it 'un-checks' itself whenever i press the apply button. I hope i can get some help with this, as i don't want to be a burden on my squad by being unable to communicate.

Specs:
Windows Vista Ultimate x64
AMD Phenom 2.5ghz Quad Core
4 gigs RAM
Nvidia Geforce GTX 280
Sound blaster XI-Fi Xtreme Audio (Creative)

Thanks for any assistance.

Threads merged.

This might be a problem caused by the infamous XFI.
- Update your sound drivers.
- Try with "Hardware" Audio setting instead of "XFI".

maybe it is related to the auto-detection feature as mentioned here: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ost1489512
