Well I have always wondered where the developers got big red from since it is obviously not a real insurgent weapon or is it?.....

Gary originated as a more powerful way for Insurgents to combat armor. However, from what you can gather from videos like this is that its more of a civilian vehicle instead of used for solely rushing up to the armor head on to take it out.
I always saw Gary/big red as a gimmick, really not suited to Project Reality at all. But if they're in the mod, a semi with a JDAM somehow attached to the back must be realistic...

The Semi with a Mk82 (not a JDAM) on the back was a place holder that kinda stuck for a bit until Gary came in.
In r/l, "Car Bombs" are not necessarily cars, but they are a lot of the time, vans, pickups etc and in rare cases, trucks have been known to have been used, for the obvious reason they can carry a much larger bomb. In PR we wanted to give the insurgents something with a bit more power in order to counter heavier coalition assets, and as such, a truck made sense.

Wow ...... that is some Scary stuff .... like yeah we can have fun and joke but .... seriousaly ... that is REDICULIOUS .. . . . . .
Also ..... there has been talk in the past about upgrading bombcars a bit .... i believe we should add atleast 2 differnt Car designs in with our Famed Euro-wagon . . Add a Sedan and possibly even bring back the SUV but more like somthing you would find in the middle east.
and for each of the vehicles have one Bomb car varient or 2 differnt ones depending upon Color of the car like the bombcars now are normaly RED . . .
Also i think that there should be barrels of propane or stacks of explosives in the back seats looks a bit more convincing than just one C4 pouch laying on the seat.
Like So
Sorry if image come up HUGE . . . .
This is Also Interesting if we are already on the Topic

It just happened to be that "Big red" semi was available in vBF2 from Operation road rage, the DEV's adopted it into a larger bomb car.

ye, that has been the plan from the start but that's another place holder that's just kinda stuck since its low priority

There is a video on liveleak where you can see IRL gary in action, making a HUGE explosion inside a nato base.

A JDAM system isn't a bomb.

it wouldnt be hard for one (bombs dont go off all the time) and two it doesnt really have to be a jdam itself, i didnt expierence it first hand but ive had several friends who in the initial invasion of iraq their units came across vast stockpiles of iraqi weapons and just left them alone to make the push to baghdad, and when they came back it was like a magic trick
EVERYTHING was gone, ive seen the before and after of one storage bunker, it was literally jam packed with artillery rounds high explosives and all sorts of other things and a week later boom its gone

Terminology check.
JDAM is a guidance package for bombs, it's not the bomb itself. If insurgents have access to enough explosive material to make those blasts seen in those videos....then...yeah.
I do agree that the C4 geometry should be changed to ArtyIED's in the car bomb. Hmmm....to the bat cave!

You guys should keep the C4 in the back, make it the only thing that stays from vanilla BF2. just a thought >.>

They get a lot from unexploded ordinance that we drop, and Im sure they have left overs from the past.

The lack of fastropes will always symbolize vanilla.

They got it from old Iraqi army munition dumps we didn't secure at the outbreak of the war and since then have kept sliding the weapons and material around and using it from time to time.
