Crash at login/create account connection screen - PR and BF2

Hey, I bought the Battlefield 2 collection over Steam and installed everything. (it comes patched at 1.5 already)

When I load it everything's fine, singleplayer works fine I can run around shooting people etc etc, but when I try to retrieve account and enter the deet's and hit connect it does the connecting to server box then crashes to desktop no error message (even in windowed mode). The same thing happens on create new account after I put the deet's in and hit create.

GTX 480, 6 gigs ram, I7-960 CPU, DX 11, Windows 7 64 bit (it can't be system specs if singleplayer works fine)
No firewall blocking anything or any ports blocked (+ it's enabled in firewall) Don't have UAV/UAC or whatever it is disabled. I've tried running in non-aero profiles, I've tried in all compat' modes all reso's EVERYTHING POSSIBLE. No virus scanner/spyware thing blocking it either.

If anyone could help would be sweet, I've googled the f**k out of this but can't find any responses.

probably a mismatch between your Default/video.con and 0001/video.con
Default/video.con is used for login screen. Once you hit Login it uses the 0001/video.con. So i suggest adapting the default's reslolution.
Make sure they are using resolutions your monitor supports. (lots of threads around here on how to do that.)

Why would it work on 1.0 though.

What should I change it to? Should I just copy paste the other one that works on single player?

Thanks.

Kk tried all variations of that + a friends set of profile folders, still the EXACT same problem.

This makes no sense logically whatsoever if when installing via CD 1.0 works fine online but even patching that still causes the problem at 1.41 and 1.5, why would anything stopb eing backward compatible from a patch.

Doing my head in.

Use steam to check for file integrity (right click on BF2 in library), maybe there is something corrupted.

No, there isn't any files corrupted, as this happened with my CD install too on 1.41 and 1.5 and worked fine on 1.0 with my CD's.

And I've already tried that multiple times along with all registry wiping processes/all invisible folders wiping/etc.

This problem makes NO SENSE WHAT SO EVER, it's really frustrating.

Try with wiping your gfx drivers and installing the latest from the nvidia site.
Try with disabling UAC (User Access Control).

Run PR/BF2 in windowed mode to hopefully get an error message which you can google.

Tried all 3 of those multiple times, nothing for the first, UAC was always disabled, and doesn't show an error message.

Welcome to the PR forums CakeLover,
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +restart +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 800 +szy 600

You have to adjust this shortcut to your local bf2 installation directory. Try this once. It overwrites the saved resolution settings in your user profile. Also if you are a new PR player, you MUST start vanilla BF2 once and create an online account and join an online server so the player profile files can be added to the registry,
If the above doesn't work, please create your own thread and we'll help you out,
