Hi guys

I just installed PR yesterday. Right now I'm going to install the xpadder so I can use a PS3 gamepad controller. Can someone guide me to a good xpadder site? Also, how do I install the singleplayer PR? After this, I'm going to join a PR game for the first time. I hope to meet some good people. Thank you.

Since I'm a devoted PC player and wouldn't even consider using a PS3 controller over a mouse I can't give you any advise on that, but I'm sure someone here can.

Singleplayer or Cooperative game mode installs with the game, no need for additional downloads or installs.

Welcome to Project Reality! :)

I would not recommend using a PS3 gamepad controller or any gamepad for that matter to play PR. I'm not even sure if it's possible to use one in Bf2.

Aside from that, welcome and enjoy!

Look I just dont like mouse and keypad nor do I care if it's the way to play PC game period. I just want to use a controller. I saw a thread before saying you can but I just can't find it. If someone already uses a controller, please let me know the step by step procedure.

As long as you don't run out of buttons with a controller :P

So ya.

What I'm wondering about is if theres enough buttons or easy placed buttons for everything. But suite yourself! :) To each his own!

Welcome, if you have any gameplay questions the community is always willing to help out.

I cannot belive i`m getting old enough to think wtf would you wan to use a game pad for a PC game. I cannot play shooting games on a PS3/xBox due to the game pad finger and thumb thing. Now the younger generation have come to lurne that PC games are far more in depth than the gun and run of COD or MOH they play on the consoles that they need to use a game pad to play them on a PC.

Dude dont do it. use the mouse and see what proper gaming is all about. even play COD on PC its far better then on a console.

unfortunately i would highly doubt that controllers will be able to be mapped to the extent of the controls required for PR, also bear in mind that your sensitivity and precision will be greatly reduced leaving you at a great disadvantage especially with the deviation in PR.

but good luck to you anyway if you do attempt to try it.

If he wants to play with a pad let him, I still fly using mouse and keys over a joystick. It's down to preference at the end of the day.

I would agree with you we were talking about a flightsim or a racegame. But this is a shooter.

there is no chance in hell that you can play with a pad, there are twice as many common keys that a pad.

also, falcon support on the game will not allow you to turn a 360 as fast as you can with a mouse, However i can fly with a mouse but only fly, fps battles are impossible.

Gamepads are for young boys with consoles that dont know any better about gaming. Get a PC and decent mouse and keyboard and get some hairs on ya chest :)

dont use a controller.
you NEED a mouse,
or how do you intend to place markers on the map as a squadleader in a critical situation?

If you use a gamepad for anything other than vehicles you will simply not be able to play the game effectively and you will be a drag for your squad/team. You will not get any assistance from me in enabling you to shoot your teammates in the foot.

ok I downloaded the the motionjoy and installed it on my PS3 controller. How do I start PR? I clicked on the exe shortcut icon and a screen poped up and then it disappeared after a few seconds. What should I do now?

how much DPI are gamepads? cuz i had to buy a 5700DPI mouse so it stoped skipping pixels in PR your mouse skipping a single pixel can be the difference between life and death, also PC games don't have auto aim which is another thing and the obvious lack of buttons.
then there's the BF engine which works incredibly bad with gamepads i wanted to map a USB gamepad to fly around or drive and it just wouldn't work it kept putting X axis on one thumbstick and Y axis on the other, but as other people have said suit your self :)
and i dont even know how you plan on navigating the menu.
to answer your question make it run in compatibility mode with XP and if you havent install BF2 patches

No offense, but i seriously suggest you to refrain from playing PR with a controller, you wont be able to use all the keys required and so you will only make the experience for other worse.

good exampe; you need the numeric keys to acces items such as a field dressing and you wont be able to do that.

Same gows for alot of the other keys,i doubt if you can still fit buttons like Q and T,and also multiple push to talk buttons (V/B/mumble keys) and multiple chat buttons (J/K/L) to play PR in any decent way.

So please reconsider mouse and keyboard or find another game to play,it sound harsh but its honestly needed for the game to function for you,and in PR you rely on other to make it fun,not just yourself.

I think mouse and keyboard for flying is still a helluvaway down the road from playing an FPS on a PC with a gamepad... Nobody will blame you for doing that!

I (and obviously others will do this as well) will blame you for invading the last resorts of hardcore PC gaming (RTS and FPS) with your frigging gamepad... It just does not make any sense.

If a PC gamer uses a gamepad on a console for the first time, for lets say a jump and run, racing or adventure game, he will have problems but adapt to it quite soon. If someone who is used to gamepads is playing an FPS with a mouse for the first time, he will have problems but adapt to it quite soon. But if you stick with your gamepad - you'll be screwed. Trust us: There is a reason for not navigating on your desktop with a GAMEPAD!!! ;)

This was his statement. Let him try it out. He might even be successful with it.
