No chance of a patch?

Hi. I'm a BF2 :P R Player and I got an downgrade from Cable to Dial-up back about 2(?) months ago. I just recently got DSL now, and I was an avid player back before I got downgraded. I was hoping there would be a chance that a patch would be created, the files are about 3GB~ for full and this is pretty much a killer, each part will take me about a night or two.

I know this is a really troubling request, but I could really use some supply and support on this one, if not, I'll buck up and do it, but I'd hate to have to download the full version, then mid-way have you great devs release a nice 1gb patch.

Thanks in advance, seriously. If anyone can even help me on this I can't begin to thank you.

There have been so many changes that they couldn't make a patch. Making one now would be a lot of work, which is probably not going to happen ;)

Not sure how well you can play PR with a dial-up connection btw, but who knows.

You may want to consider, though, if perhaps you have access to a computer with a decent connection somewhere, so you can download from it and bring the files home on a USB stick. Perhaps your office/university/school/whatever would be a good place to download from.

Make sure your boss/person in charge is ok with it first, might get in trouble.

Just make your network name unknown and do it quickly.. : D

Jokes. The earlier you start the faster it will be done..

And, patch can't be done with the sheer size of .957

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure all it is is repacking the files, but not including the untouched ones. I know the Refractor engine isn't a very tidy one, but I know for a fact that patching is actually a lot easier than making users having to redownload the product over and over and over and over again.

But oh well, I whine to nothing but the brick wall. I'll have a friend download it I guess...Was hoping to play by thanksgiving but I guess I'll stick with BC2 for now.

When you redo as much as in 0.9, 0.957 even if you make a patch, it would be about the size of full download, which makes whole 'patch' thing useless. When possible patches are made, when not - full releases.
Its not like we benefit from your bandwidth usage :p

What speeds do you have then, is it really that bad for you?

(and really that bad to go back to BC2 for now? :o )

Heh. I used to download PR for more than 24 hours until I could play, too.
It's an acceptable waiting time imo :p

Luckily I'm a bit faster now with it.

512Kb or 64kb/s in layman's terms. It's not that it's bad. Just that I'd have to sit down in 3 different settings to download 1.4gb files....Torrents feel throttled, and the files would take about a night.. I'll try to find a friend to dl it I guess.

No patch is possible as it would almost be as a big as full since so many files were changed.

Leave the download on over night and your done... easy.

If your ISP gives you a download limit, that sucks :/ But then again, Buying a game on Steam nowadays means easily 12GB for one game (usually more now). If you can do so, switch ISP asap.

Closed.
