[movement] Power up Jump

This came to me yesterday while i was playing on kokan having to jump over a step going into a building . . . we already know that BF2 engine doesnt allow a step over animation like arma . . .

So i jumped over the step full force and watched as my stamina level droped from 100% to about 50% or so what ever the level drop is . . so i started wondering if it was possible to give the SPACE bar jump fuction a power up ability like the Right click Granade throw ??? The longer you hold it the farther it is thrown or . . The longer you hold it the higher you Jump not exceeding the height of the Normal Jump animation height already in place.

this would give you the ability to jump over small objects with out using the full usage of your stamina stregnth. so if you wanted to jump 1/2 of the jump height that would be "full jump" you would still beable to get over the object without major concequence.

ISSUES:
1 Not Sure if the Bf2 engine will allow it

2 Not sure how it will effect Running start Jumps ( from object to object )
Possibly the Longer you hold the space bar the shorter your jump becomes? like a Reverse power up so that you can still have running start jumps

3 is it worth the trouble? or should we just reduce the energy used for jumping

please leave your two sense

That is a very good idea! I was thinking about the stamina that you lose in one jump too but you came up with a very good idea.

oh yes, me like. this would be perfect for jumping curbs and a good countermeasure against bunny hopping. it would also take a bit longer to climb higher obstacles, as in real life.

very good idea, hope it's not hardcoded. and if it's hardcoded put mosquill on it :D

I was expecting "Lol so only spec ops kits get it but they have more jump NOT SUGGESTION but would be really cool to add lol"

Seriously. If this was added.. omgg... <3 No more having to break a sweat for stepping over a twig.

I do agree that for runing and jumping the energy bar goes down to fast. The only problum I see is that if you need to jump over somthing while running it is limited to small curves and not mabey a sandbag wall.

And.. Can you gauge Sprint level dropped per "Jump Lvl"? IE You would lose 10% sprint for a small jump and 50% for a large jump?

isent the sprinting bar in BF2 Hard coded. if not that would be really help full.

brilliant idea, it would make it so people cant just sprint and jump over walls, it'll take a second to get over it. only problem that arises would be those situations where you need to get over that wall and fast. ie when you're running from a tank shell.

It's only a problem for the one running from the tank shell. :)

This is a great suggestion, if it ain't hard-coded, I suggest getting it into game :D

i take that back, they could probably just charge the jump while running

that's right.

the more i think of this, the more i hope it can be implemented. besides the forementioned it's simply more realistic. real people can't bounce a meter in the air immediately like standing on a spring.

Love this idea +2! any devs confirm if this is remotely possible?

Jumps are joke now. Are three or four jumps tiring like 150 meter sprint? I do not think so.

The option must be inversed as you said. Longer you hold, less jump you do, in theory it could be the other way around but it would get exploited to hell and back.

Nice suggestion but smells hardcoded.

Heh, that's a creative one.

I, too, call hardcoded, though. Jumping is no weapon, and as far as I know, only weapons can have that "power up" kind of thing. Well, and vehicles, for their speed.

This thread has been around for a while now, no DEVs willing to respond?

Well done for the only negative, unconstructive post in this thread.

You obviously don't know why the jumping system is set up the way it is currently and you seem to think the chaps who implemented the changes in PR to get away from vBF2 bunny hopping are idiots. It's not a joke, there is a reason for it.

The whole reason behind the suggestion of this thread is to be able to conserve stamina when jumping over minor obstacles while at the same time keeping the measures in place to prevent bunny hopping.

Power up Jump!
I like this idea but it certainly does sound like a coding nightmare if it isn't hardcoded.

Where be the dev's to comment on this wonderful suggestion?

Try putting on 100+ lb's of gear and telling us. I personally dont know and would like to find out
