The particular assault pack we tried to model seems to be available only in woodland MARPAT.

Meaning it doesn't exist as a desert version, therefore it is intended...

marines rarely get the right camo for desert stuff...for example those bio hazard suits in Generation kill

Sorry for offtopic, but aren't the marines the elite infantry force of the US forces?
Lately I got the impression that the always get the new stuff last and are a bit like the underdog in the forces.

They claim to be the underdogs, getting all the older equipment, but that statement is because of their choice. They could be using all the same gear the Army has, but they want the longer M16A4s, they wanted the M14's back in Vietnam, they wanted the M1 Garands over the M2 Carbines in Korea.

Ok think of it this way a pilot is not an on the ground combat troop correct? Ok hopefully you agree with that. Now the military is not made of money they can't just build/buy anything anytime whenever they choose. Ok when the military orders flight helmets from Gentex they come either white or OD, then the military in this case the Marines will order helmet covers since woodland marpat is the main pattern then thats what they got.

This is the exact same reason for the backpack being woodland. Simply non major equipment that color doesn't matter they will not make 2 or 3 or how ever many colors they need. So yes it was intentional for the 57824723475034785 time and now you have a reason.

Why does it matter what camo is on the Pilot's Helmet?
Indeed why would a pilot even want a camo helmet?

Any Pilots out there that can answer?

Surely the multi million dollar aircraft that your sitting in
gives your position away slightly!

I could see that if the pilot had to ditch or abandon the aircraft
then camoflaged headgear might be handy, but surely it
would come in the form of something more lightweight or practical
than a 2 kilo helmet with a large shiny visor!

Please advise!

Guys, don't just say this was intentional. On a C4 killing caches through walls thread, we were discussing (and stating that it was intentional) because a C4 would level the entire building, hence "killing" the cache inside. The building didn't collapse, though, because it would cause severe server load.

Turns out it was an accident and was too easy for gameplay.

PR is only as realistic as its weakest branch. And that's the damn pilot's helmet! I lost count of the times I got sniped in the head because the only thing the MECs could see in Muttrah was the pilot's green helmet


On a more serious note, though... Forgive my ignorance, but isn't changing the texture as simple as changing the "texture" on the editor? It could be far more complex, I just don't know...

The posted images only go to prove that this a huge variation
in KIT. In some of the images where they have Desert Camo
on their helmets they have Wood land on their webbing etc.
