Binoculars for third position in MBTs

I really hope this is not covered by this:
Weapons - Support Gunner/Scopes.
If it is I am truly sorry.
My suggestion ist that the third position of the MBTs should be given a zoom capability,
but not for shooting the .50 cal, only spotting.
Ideally it should be exactely as if he was holding regular crewman binoculars.
My limited understanding of modding makes me think that it is not too much work, as it would involve no new animations/models and there are a few features which (at least to me) look like they work similarly (stryker + crow humvee)
I understand that tanks don't have a remotly operated .50 cal, because it would take too many players of the field, so this could be the problem here, too.
On the other hand, I think it would be pretty realistic and people are kind of able to do this already,but they have to get out of the tank, which is rather unrealistic and sometimes dangerous.
What do you guys think?
