[Solved] BF2, patching problem

This is not a direct PR BF2 problem. More like indirect.

Here is what iv'e done:

- Installed BF2
- Installed BF2: Special Forces
- Rebooted computer
- (BF2 and SF runs as administrator and compatibility is XP Service Pack 2)
- Fired up BF2 and Special Forces to check it runs fine
- Installed Patch 1.41
- (problem) Trying to start patch 1.50

My computer:

Dell Studio XPS 8100
Intel Core I5 CPU (3.20 GHz)
ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphic card
6 GB RAM
OP: Windows 7 x64

My computer runs Arma 2 fine.

Problem in detail:
I have downloaded patch 1.50 two times! None of them will start!
I press the installer icon, it asks for permission to open file, and then nothing happens. I know that sometimes it takes time to start the patches, but iv'e let the computer on for hours, and it just won't start! ( no other programs were running)

I have also googled my problem, tried to find this problem, but I can't find anything. Anyone know what to do? I decided to give this one more try! Put patch 1.50 just won't run!

I suspect UAC blocking the installer. I suggest you disable it (at least for the time of the installation). Also disable your AV-Software for the installation for it may block the installer untill it has check the 1.5 GB.

Make sure the installer is not corrupted anyhow: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ost1474278

Also: Some people have experienced problems not running PR/BF2 in compatiblity mode, but untill you have those problems I suggest running it normally. Also do not run the installers in compatibility mode unless you are having trouble installing.

Hi there SnipingCoward!

I salute you! Disabling the UAC did the trick  Thanks!

For others that may have the problem, here is how you disable UAC:

Open up Control Panel, and type in "UAC" into the search box. You'll see a link for "Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off"
