Iron Eagle needs jeep sized transport

Iron Eagle needs to have more transportation available. I know there are choppers and APCs that are supposed to transport troops, but every round of the 4 or 5 AAS I've played have ended with long walks from main and not half of the team staying round for the end of the map. The IDF gets a few humvees, but MEC gets none.
I would like to see a lot of light transport like humvees and jeeps spawn up at a fast pace like Kokan. Or troop transports if that is more realistic???
Adding alot of transport could make this a great map with its size, hills, cover etc.
Maybe a poll to see if others feel the same?

hmm, maybe this should have been in the suggestion forum?
I was trying to give feedback, but it looks more like a suggestion. Whatever. Take it as you like it.
Move it if you want...

There is one Humvee that spawns at the IDF main, but otherwise, everything else is armor.

There are 2 Humvees from the start on one of the layers AFAIK, I was using them lastnight.
The MEC definitely need an alternative to heavy APC transport such as trucks/jeeps, it takes about 11 minutes to move across the map in a BMP which is simply not viable.

I play always as Inf on this map and I don't think that this map need more assets. Maybe changing one tank into apc would be nice, nothing more.
Well, maybe one more transport option for MEC.

I agree with the need for more means for infantry to go mobile. While in organized play a competent transport chopper AND an APC should be enough... In all four rounds I've played on Iron Eagle on Tactical Gamer, the chopper goes down and the infantry is stuck hoofing it 1500-2000m to the objective. Once even, I ferried my entire squad with a two-seater logi truck. A logi truck.
Getting shot down in the trans chopper and then promptly being left at main by the APC, no matter how patient you are, leads to rage quits.
Maybe one or two respawning troop-transport trucks is all I ask.

I was playing in another squad in the same round lastnight with Zegel and must add my frustrations at the lack of transport. With incompetent chopper/APC crewmen, it becomes a ridiculously long voyage either on foot or by Namer/M113 across the map, and its inhospitable terrain just makes long trips completly futile when getting taken out by a Havok/Apache.
I ragequit for the first time in a past few weeks simply because the contact with enemies is so uncommon that majority of the time spent playing is waiting or traveling toward the enemy.
On this subject, it raises the point that the MEC at this point don't have their own Humvee/jeep equivalent which is desperately needed.

I would disagree on transport, it's all about tactics on this map, and fobs. you need your fobs, very much on this map, and if that work well then its perfekt, it just seems like every one charges into action not wondering if they would die and have to leg it 2000m because they left their transport 100m from the flag.

This map really needs trans trucks/jeeps! I was totally surprised when I saw Iron Eagle only had 1 trans chopper 0_0 What is the reasoning for this? Even Kashan has 2 helos! With Wanda Shan and Iron Eagle it seems like the devs wanted to put some emphasis on APC transport. Unfortunately it doesn't work :/

Why not add this to the MEC for the "Jeep" it's called the Al-Thalab

Jeep or 2 for MEC looks like a good idea, ppl just take APC's as lighter armoured tanks, they rarely actualy transport people

I think both sides need more light transport for sure. Also the map needs way more flags that are closer together imo, it would mean you need less transport from one side of the map to the other.

it would be good to have a few more light vehicles but we can't over do it as it wouldn't make it realistic.

I honestly don't know what you guys are going on about realism about, first of all, yes, it's a realistic mod, but the map is completely fictional. The MEC isn't even a real organization.

On topic: I agree with Kendt888, it you have so much problems with transports, why not build FOBs so you don't have to go back and forth in a logistics truck?

The problem is not building firebases, its how - at least on the primary layer (and in addition to no light vehicles) - that supply lines fall almost completely down to the chopper for crates as ground transport takes so stupidly long. It took our BMP a whopping
11 minutes to get to Alkomin from the MEC main taking all the normal roads, its just too much to expect people to put up with slow transport like that.
Building firebases aside, there needs to be a drastic increase in the amount of choppers, or simply less expected dependency on ground transport. My squad took a Namer from IDF main over to Alkomin and I had time during the journey to alt+tab and read the forums, then come back in and we still weren't there, then we got killed by a TOW. Basically, the heavy transport slows down movement
so much that it frustrates the player into not bothering anymore. The only reason I stay on Iron Eagle for one is because the infantry combat in Bijar is terrific.

I think the tools are there but the players who handle them might not use them in the right way. So adding more would not be necessary in my opinion, players will have to learn that APC's(IFV's) are part of the infantry force and are put in game for supporting/moving with the infantry.

People have been saying that for a good 3 versions from 0.8 onwards now, but players
still haven't adapted to that principle, and for good reason. Look at what Truism said in the 'PR straying from roots' thread.
Let's say, hypothetically, you try to use APCs doctrinally, and do all the drills, debus and get the thing to roll with infantry conducting fire and movement.
For starters, the APC would get popped pretty much straight away since it's not moving fast and is now sitting more or less in the open.
Infantry can't fire and move like they can in real life, so you basically have a squad out on the ground waiting to get shot, unable to effectively return fire.
I'm sick of hearing people argue that APCs should be used as battle taxi's because PR has been designed, from the ground up, for this not to work properly. Without a massive overhaul using an APC as a transport is a great way to endanger a lot of lives and use a tiny amount of an asset's potential.
And hes perfectly correct in saying that. For the most part, IFV's and APC's are significantly more effective in PR when working as light tanks since the game is still about how many dudes you can kill.

OMG Wanda Shan is the most horrifying terrain to drive over. I almost killed my tank when I tried to cut through what looked to be some nice, open, grassy terrain. Shook me to pieces. It doesn't help the the roads often take you on the longest route away from the objective you're trying to get to. Trans helos are a definite MUST on that map... that or hovercraft.

I agree. But I think it doesn't work out in PR because in a real combat scenario against a competent and equipped enemy, it wouldn't work out. We see it used in places like Iraq, but that's against guys who can usually barely muster up an RPG-7. They're still big targets, but they're usually supported by a slew of infantry, not one or two squads. But against another army, things wouldn't work out like we see in the the video clips coming out of Iraq. Big valuable targets like an APC shouldn't be thrown at an enemy with the means to destroy them. They should be used however they are most effective, and I think PR players do that just fine. I usually see them used in packs, or in support of tanks, or as stand-off fire support for infantry. I don't see them used as frontline transport because that's how they get killed very easily.
