Finals are almost over and here's some of the outlines I've been doing for the tutorials

http://soundcloud.com/bluedrake42/sets/project-reality-tutorials

VOICE (these will be spoken)

(when entering the game, spawn menu)
Welcome to Project Reality. To get started, join or create a squad in the "Squad" Tab, then pick your equipment and spawn point in the "Kit" Tab

(when entering an aircraft as pilot)
All Aircraft require a minimum warm-up period of at least 30 seconds. Wait and listen for the engines to be at full power before attempting a take-off.

(When driving a Tank or other heavy vehicle)
All vehicle mounted weapon emplacements require a short "warm up" period before going active. Ensure that your vehicle's turret is online before heading out into the battlefield.

TEXT (these will come up in a dialogue box, they most likely will not be spoken)

------- (actions)

(when hurt)
You have been wounded! Seek medical attention as soon as possible! Apply your "Field Dressing" bandage to help stem the bleeding!

(when within 2 meters of a cache)
You have found a cache! Use C4 or incendiaries to destroy it.

(when within cap radius of a capturable flag)
You are within the capture radius of a sector! Check your team's progress of securing the sector by looking at the meter above your map in the spawn menu! (Press "Enter" or "Caps Lock")

------- (Items)

(when shovel is selected)
Use the shovel tool to construct emplacements, hold down "Left Mouse Trigger" when looking at an unbuilt emplacement to build it.

(when grenade launcher is selected)
Look down your UGL sights by hitting "Right Mouse Trigger", then use the Comma Rose interface "Q" to set the range. When the correct range has been selected, hit "Left Mouse Trigger" to fire.

(when medic bag is seleted)
The medic bag heals your teammates. To heal a teammate, hold down the "Left Mouse Trigger" while standing immediately beside, and looking directly at him.

(when radio selected)
The radio is used to report hostile contacts to the rest of the team. They can also be used by squad leaders to request support from other units, and to place deployable structures. Hit "Right Mouse Trigger" to activate the radio, then hit "T" to bring up the radio options in the Squad Leader Comma Rose interface.

(When Wrench is Selected)
The wrench is capable of removing mines and repairing light vehicles. Hold down the "Left Mouse Trigger" to do either.

I'm gonna start recording the voice-overs soon.

caution with the cache warning, it will be advised for both teams. Any new PR player on the INS side can try to destroy it when a voice comming from nowhere tells him to.

Also with the cache, if its on the other side of the wall, either in a building or alleyway, it could confuse them if they do not see it. Apart from that sounds like a good idea if it can all be integrated.

This is interesting, if it is limited to coop - I can't see it working on MP actually. Normally there is too much going on VOIP, specially when near a cache.

On a side note, nice hats you got there.

Yeah it probably will be a 1 meter notification.

It's gonna be very very helpful for new players but will there be a disable button? Because it would make the experienced players go nuts.

most of these wont work unless you make new triggers also. have tried before to change them for my own mod. you can replace this tooltip voice with animations on screen to help along, this would be more suitable?

Yessir, the plan is to most definitely have a disable button

Yeah check the post, the majority of these tool tips will be Dialogue boxes, for many reasons. First of all it'll be less distracting while in the battlefield, and secondly for a lot of them there's Key referencing, which will change depending on your control layout.

Also I'm thinking about simplifying a lot of the dialogue boxes.
Like instead of... this is a wrench, it does this this and this, do this to use it.
I might just put "Left Mouse Trigger" - Repair Light Vehicles, Remove Mines

Ask R-Dev Afterdune to do the voices :P

Just make sure it doesn't explain things that are too complicated as it gets wierd. A simple:
Join a squad and ask for further instructions from your squad leader, if he isn't doing his job try joining another squad.
Would do it.

I think I'm gonna let people figure that kindof stuff out themselves, I'm not gonna be outlining every single aspect of the game. Just the basics.

Great work!

You may want to add a few more things in, such as info for deviation, having a "gunner" for tanks, helis, etc.

For the past few days I've been playing BF2 and listening to the voice tips, and one thing that I noticed is that they need to be catchy, as I could recite EVERY single one, word for word when it came up. Stuff like this:

You have been wounded! Seek medical attention as soon as possible! Apply your "Field Dressing" bandage to help stem the bleeding!

Could be shortened to something like:
'You have been wounded and need medical attention as soon as possible. To use your field dressing, press the field dressing button. [Default 9]'
The BF2 ones did the same, by having the little text bit up the top come up as (default 9) as opposed to saying the button, since often people change them and it can become confusing.

Also, 'incendiaries' is a bit confusing as well, remember these should be aiming to the person who has never played PR or BF2 even. 'Use C4 or incendiary grenades to destroy it' would be a better option.

While these do destroy the immersion factor somewhat, vague and cryptic language can really confuse new players. Be as direct an unrealistic as possible to ensure they know what the tip is telling them.
Could simply become:
The radio is used to spot contacts for the team, deploy structures, and request support.
Hit "Right Mouse Trigger" to activate the radio, then hit the alternate commo rose button [Default T]
Just my thoughts on it.
