when i download the map pack it downloads to my desktop and i cant run any install wizard. what is the default destination for the map pack? if i change the destination will the install wizard then run?

If you do not get a PR dogtags icon for your installer (it's the generic executable icon), or you cannot open the installer (it might ask you what to open it with or open in some other program), your download is corrupt, and you need to download it again.

The install wizard will tell you where to install it to, and sort everything out for you.

I really dont know what to do to fix this.
only downloading this for the firs time now and have tried downloading from moddb 5 times, and each time the installer takes a shit on me. i assumed the file is currupt but it meets anchientman's discription. im stumped, anybody experiancing constant installer errors?

[edit] I have a pr_edit folder if that makes any difference.

On large downoads I suggest you use a download manager (FDM or GetRight) or a torrent client (?Torrent). Those tools are able to resume downloads and esp. torrents check for corruption.
You are best off verifying the file with e.g. an MD5 (see MD5Summer).

Sorry but the "pr_edit" didn't make any sense to me.

Make sure you have enough disk space available.
