IED and Vehicle Improvements

I don't necessarily know how an IED works but as far as I know a lot of them use cell phones and in PR the cell phones have grade A Verizon wireless service in the middle of whichever area of the middle east or mountains you reside in. I would like to see a 3 or so second delay before the IED goes off after pressing down on the call button. When I have a cell phone right next to another it takes at least 1 ring on my phone till the other phone starts ringing, and I doubt this could be added but I saw a video from an insurgent point of view and they tried detonating an IED on a convoy and it failed because the cell phone lost service or something of that nature, again I don't know the limits of the BF2 engine but it would be nice to see a 5% chance that the IED wont trigger in one call.
Next improvement I would like to see is the IED disabling vehicles rather than blowing them up, and this goes along with vehicles in general, would it be possible to make vehicles have a normal state > disabled state > demolished state? So lets say a humvee is 100% health. 100% to 50% a pipe bomb IED would take the vehicle to 50%, 50% is disabled state, anyone still alive in the vehicles can get out and use the vehicle for cover, small arm fire no longer deals damage to a disables vehicle, RPG's and explosives however will. when the vehicles hits 0% it becomes the exploded vehicle we have today.
So scenario to put this in perspective, insurgents set up an ambush, 3 seconds eta to triggered IED, humvee is disabled squad may have lost 1 or 2 people in the explosion but 3 others survived, they get out and take cover behind the humvee and seek a way outta the ambush.
Don't know if this can be added also but maybe make the .50 cal have its own health system, example, the .50 can be used while the vehicle is disabled but enough damage to the disabled vehicle and the .50 becomes disabled also.

I have praying that a disabled system be added to light vehicles. IF that is added insurgency would be so much better, no more running to main smoking. However, making IEDs harder to use may not be the best thing to do, but if the delay is super short all should be good.
I support your suggestions

Don't get me wrong with the IED delay, I am not looking to ruin IEDs, I personally think it would add to the immersion, realism, and take a little more thinking rather than "tank is in-between the tree and wall....click"
Also the disabled vehicle suggestion would make logistics repair stations more of a purpose than the occasional drop for a tank that was hit with an RPG or two.

Although there is a sense of realism in delaying the IED, it removes alot of the Insurgents' ability to take down an armored asset as easily, as the APC/tank or whatever sees the sapper or the IED inbetween the detonation and explosion, they can just slam on the brakes and avoid it.
Another foreseeable tactic is a vehicle stopping and starting or slowing down at certain times to try to confuse the sapper which would just become frustrating.

i think disabling is very hard to do with the BF2 engine because of the collision. just as it doesnt like it when you try to put a vehicle inside another, it doesnt like a vehicle having its tracks shoved up inside in the body. in the real world, an AFV with its tracks disabled can still fire its main gun/coax. with the BF2 collision, you keep bouncing around and cant hit anything.
the gun has its own disabling code built in. the turret locks in place as if you were still waiting for it to warm up after you get in for the first time. the gun can still fire, but with the turret disabled, again you cant shoot for s***.
i remember "breaking an axle" on a techincal a while back(.8?), although i havent seen it recently, so i imagine it was taken out.
as for the delay, sure. it wouldnt take much for someone to learn how to lead the vehicle and know when to make the call to detonate. stoping and starting may help more vehicles survive IEDs. right now, every IED placed usually ends up with a kill. i say make them work for it.

I believe if you could hide an IED then that would not be a problem unless they drive like that the whole time

That is fair... one needs to outsmart the enemy and adapt to their tactics...

You're a Marine, in real life do AAV's/MRAP's/Humvee's etc. drive down a road in Afghanistan in such a spastic manner that it looks like its their first time driving?

Ressuggestion i couldint find any in the serach but i rembemer i was going to post the exact same thing until i saw other threads about it.
I rember i heard on one of those threads before it was actually not realistic for a delay.
Dont ask me how i just read it and it was a long time ago so i cant rembemer it.
