Avoid explosion when heli falls in the ground

Hi. don't know if this can be done, but my overall idea is to avoid heli explosion in the air by smallarm or techie .50 fire.
So when you fall in the ground, you have some seconds to get out, heavily damaged, simulating the burning vehicle damage but before the fire and only if the choppers falls in the ground.
So with this we would have 2 "after crash" effects:
1) Damage when the choppers falls in the ground.
2) Damage when the chopper is in fire.
This, combined with the other suggestion about "turning" would make the people being able to survive a crash and if they have a medic they can be healed..... if not, then they die 15 sec after the crash because of the damage taken.
This would be good to be coded taking in count the altitude, because you may survive a 100mts fall (not rock like fall, but with the chopper making some effort to make the fall soft) but not 500mts fall
