Joystick axis assignment

Hey all, any known way to assign 2 axises to one control? I tried mimicking how the IDKey_A IDKey_B work for an axis, using 2 different axis, but that didn't work (of course, I'm sure).
My JS has 2 throttles, trying to see if there is a way to have 1 throttle go from 0-50% (reverse) and the other throttle 51-100% (forward) so I don't have to find the "center" everytime I'm trying to stop a tank or something.
Thanks for any ideas

I am actually thinking of buying a joystick cuz I cannot fly with a mouse for my life and I would really like to get into flying. What joystick do you have?? (AND why are you using it for a tank?)

You ahve to change the 2 axis to one in your joystick driver.
i have to do the same with my pedals, the normal way (right gas, left brake) didnt work, i had both gas and brake on the same pedal. So i changed to a single axis in my driver and, whoop, right gas, left brake

I'll def look into that joy stick! I can't fly for my life, my chopper likes to drift left and right =\ It's better when I use arrow keys but I really wana learn how to fly!

Can you clarify this? I tried using the profiler for the saitek stick, but it doesn't do anything like this. How do you modify the driver? Or at least go about doing that?
Anyway, the throttle is way better for driving a tank, imho. I can smoothly speed up and slow down without bouncing, and hold a slow speed, all so the gunner can not deal with jerkiness. Right now I'm running with a Cyborg X joystick, which has split throttles. Just that BF2 (and 1) has that idiotic "50% is off" ****.
I'm looking to combine my throttles, so I can use the left one for forward, then can just turn off, and the right one can be for reverse, something I rarely use.

I have the 3D Pro too, I find the throttle difficult to use in choppers, I might tape something in front of it so it will stop at 26% or something for hovering and then map two of the side buttons in place of W and S for everything else.
@ Cinders: If your drivers don't have the option to set the separate axis you might try something like Joy2Key, not sure if that will give you more options. Though if you're looking to set one as 0-50% and the other as 51-100%, which it looks like to me, changing the axis through a driver won't work. You would have to alter BF2's code to set 0-50% on a whole different axis than 51-100%. I have no idea how you would do that though, sorry.

I think you're right. Appreciate the info.
What about a way to set a joystick so the throttle never goes to reverse in bf2? The profiler doesn't have this option. My old 3D logitech, there was a way to do that. Saitek, not finding it.

Did you do it through your Logitech's drivers? If so, then you'll just have to find 3rd party software compatible with your Saitek.

I also used my joystick throttle for flying and driving before using my pedals. and i say its much more inaccurate then the pedals. Youre jsut more used to them by driving irl and you can react much faster than with the throttle (imagine you have to break very quickly, how would you do that?). and now, i also use the pedals when flying helis and jets and i think that is much better for a new player to learn flying (pedals for gas/brake, A and D for rudders/steer and the mouse to roll and pitch). the bf2 engine is just not made for joysticks and flying with a joystick feels so unrealistic.
so my tip:
use the mouse to fly, its the most accurate and easiest way to learn flying. if you have pedals i would recommend them for gas/brake in vehicles.
