Situation

Land bridges still exist on Al Basrah, almost negating the need for CSB's. The texture of the water was simply changed to make it so you couldn't see under the water where the land rose up, giving the illusion that they aren't there. On TG a couple of days ago, the Challenger was stuck across the bridge waiting for about 6 minutes for a logistics truck to go back and forth from the main, getting CSB's across it. I came by in a land rover with my squad, and told the tank, yet they had no idea that the land bridge was still there.

Problem

These shallow rivers are also on the southern side of the map, and so the need for CSB's on the pre-determined spots are pointless. There are also some of them that are clustered, yet in other spots there isn't any. As an example, this area of river doesn't have a single one, yet it provides valuable access across to the palace.

Others are placed in positions when there is clearly a better alternative available. Example below, there is a short CSB spot, but any vehicle on the map could simply drive in and out of the creek, behind the ruined car.

Solution

Remove all land bridges on the map, to ensure the Brits actually make proper use of the CSB's. They are a great addition to the game add new depth, however when the water is so shallow, their need isn't evident.

Apologies for the .png's, for some reason I have BMP selected in Fraps but it saves in png.

Guess the reason they didn't do that was simply not to re-lightmap that whole thing again etc.

Even still, there is no real reason for the CSB emplacements if they aren't going to be used.

I'm sure someone, possibly you posted about this a few months ago and I fixed it. They where meant to have been removed for v0.95, just that someone by mistake reverted the change when they where learning how to use the repo cough *rudd* cough

Well, removing them can be unrealistic, but making them destroyed from the start of the map would be cool.

Ummm Patrick i believe the discussion is about shallow waters where vehicle can cross. They were supposed to be removed but apparently someone only raised the water lvl a bit so its still passable

By "Land Bridges" dtacs etc mean "Fords", ie, shallow parts of the river you can drive though. I hate the term "Land Bridges" myself as its very confusing and totally inaccurate, since the term bridge means generally a connection by going over an obstacle, not though
