Black screen instead of loading a new map

Hello,
After a round ends, right after the overall score is shown, the game locks itself and the rest of my PC - at the moment when it should start loading a new map, the screen goes black and only a reset button works. This happened on multiple servers. Clean install of BF2, didnt play for few months.
system:
XP SP3
amd athlon 64 3200+
2GHz
1gb of ram
loads of free space
Other than this, very few issues with game, more stable than the last build i used.

You might be running out of ram.
1GB of RAM is below recommendations. Boost your "Page File" to compensate.
Turning down some grafics settings might help as well (e.g. textures).
Is this on every map/server (even local)?
How about BF2 does it happen there as well?

Pagefile is huge, but i might treat myself with some extra RAM.
The problem didnt occur with BF2.
Also, this morning i was able to join a server (with few players only), play a round of skirmish Kokan, then continue with the server to skirmish Asad Khal .
When i played coop on my machine, i created a server with all available maps, starting with Al Basrah skirmish - the i was able to load Al Basrah standart - after that, the same problem, and it happened instead of loading skirmish Asad Khal.
So: maps seem to be random, online servers as well.
Also graphics is pretty low.

It is still possible that some files are corrupted. If you still have them, check if your installer file integrity is/was ok:

Checked the installers, 3 times OK by md5summer...
Some extra RAM wont hurt my machine, i will report on results
