joined PRTA server, mumble compulsory, got on the correct side and joined a sqd, then WHAM all of a sudden i can hear like 30 people all talking and having conversations some in different languages, someone was even singing and playing a guitar!! i couldnt hear my SL or anything else, not even my footsteps.
I thought i'm too close to fellow mumblers, so i moved away like 200 mtrs from everybody and still could hear everyone as if they were still next to me!
When i play i like to hear whats going on around me, footsteps, vehicles etc but when all i can hear is 30 people chatting away, some of it pointless noise i think what is the point of mumble? or is it me? have i set something wrong?
Is this how mumble is used?, i thought it was positional audio? where you cant hear people more than 70 mtrs away not 30 people all talking with the same volume!
If this is the way mumble is then i dont think its for me, especially listening to someone auditioning for the 'x' factor

firstly, fix your shift/capslock key

secondly, for one reason or another, you are not linked. You should not hear everyone at the same time. if running vista/7 make sure everything is run as administrator

some weird ways in which bf2 can link with mumble

alt-tab, out of game and back in
hop in and out of a vehicle.
sometimes pressing your talk key links
simply waiting (assign self-deafen and self-mute keys. Handy if you have two screens to monitor mumbles linking)

if you're still not linking, then there could be some setting out of place, which i can't help with sorry

Nah that happens when mumble does not correctly 'link' to your game. Apparently proning (Z) for a while fixes it quickly... but personally I have hotkeys set up to mute/deafen mumble and I just leave it muted for about 2-5 minutes and when I unmute it... it has linked into the game and everyone is positional :)

Just one of the fiddly bits of it... 90% of the time for me it works perfectly.

These are the correct way to use mumble ;)

thank you for the prompt replys

animal.mother can u explain a bit more about fixing the shift/caps lock keys
i dont use these keys to control anything in mumble i only use ALT/TAB to switch between mumble and PR

Psyrus thank you for the videos, mumble is awsome when working correctly, i will have to keep playing around with it to get it working

thanks again

He means your thread title, having it all in capitals is unnecessary and pretty irritating so I've changed it for you.

Also moving thread to the appropriate forum section.
