Weapon & assets black

Hi,

I recently installed Windows 7 on my PC and reinstalled BF2, patched it with 1.4 & 1.5, then installed Project Reality 0.95. All my drivers are up to date, I tried cleaning my cache, etc.

Now the actual problem is that whenever I load a map and spawn (if I'm lucky though) all I see is a black weapon and the ground shadows of the vehicles but not the vehicles themself.
I got;
Windows 7 32-bit on 2x1.6GHz
ATI Radeon HD 2500 (256mb)
3.5GB RAM

PR worked (everything on high except geometries on medium and no AA) fine before I installed Windows7

Any suggestions?

Clear out your shaders cache in your BF2 Documents.

Whoops didnt read
It didn't work for me twice but I read a post in the support forums someone said the problem happens when you let BF2 optimize the shaders, delete your entire BF2 folder inside my documents and then load up BF2, and exit, dont load a map or anything, then open PR and load a map and problem should be fixed.

BF2 Cleaner

Could work?

Hmm.. Tried BF2 cleaner already still the same thing, but I found something though; if I put all my settings to low and the lowest resolution it doesn't act like this. I don't know what setting is causing this.

Meh..

Could be your system. More Ram could help and a new vid card

Yes a new video card is needed, but before the Windows 7 upgrade I played without any problem (exceptions; Yamalia, Lashkar, Burning Sands were low fps unless overclocking my GPU).

Did you have a 64bit Windows whatever?

32bits limit Ram.

I suggest new parts all around

Well Windows 7 64-bit wouldn't work I guess? I'll need a 64-bit processor, buying a ATI HD 5770 is what I'm planning, having it maybe in a week or so. My RAM is fine, I can get more at school.

Well, i think the best thing is to just wait out until you get your new parts and report back to here.

Also I've noticed that having a lower resolution "fixes" the problem.. I'll try to edit my Catalyst Control Center.

Anyway, I think the problem is solved, I think it was because I've disabled my GPU-fan and placed an old CPU fan next to it hoping it would a better job on cooling my GPU, seem to have failed at it, the graphics were good again when I connected my GPU-fan to my GPU.

This can be closed :-)

Seems not to be fixed at all, bump for justice.

So what do I have;
-transparent textures
-black/not visible weapons
-grey main menu

Could it be because I have Directx11?

My GPU doesn't seem to support it.

Also bump.

That might be it, uninstall it and try DX 9

I got something here, it's called Directx Eradicator, it says it can delete Directx.. I'll give it a try, now just making a restore point
