PR funfactor is fading.

Anyone think that PR isn't what it used to be? I do, last year i was so addicted to PR, the teamwork was fantastic and i couldn't stop playing, I've found my self going 4-6 hours straight playing, now i struggle to play for an hour without getting bored. Maybe the game is just too realistic. Anyone feel the same? Post your thoughts below.

Regards.
Urban

No, I still have a great time and recently have had no problem finding great teamwork.

It's often about the server you're playing on tbh. From a playerbase standpoint PR has only grown so it's possible that not everyone will be quite up to speed with their teamwork spills when compared with the small close-knit community of old versions.

Fact is though sometimes you will just get bored of a particular game. I took a two month break from PR a short while ago, have now returned and am enjoying it more and more so maybe that is what you need to do.

I do the same as jigsaw, I'll stop playing for a good month then come back strong.

You seriously can't believe that playing only one game will be ok for you, it will get boring.

Maybe once in awhile I will have a round where I think, "That was a big waste of time...". I'll leave for a couple of days or maybe play some other games and come back and have another round that makes me even more addicted.

I agree with you guys. I also have one more concern. Last year when the map pack came out, almost every server had them in their rotation. Now this year's map pack was barely played. Whats your ideas on this?

well Barrentz Invasion is pretty laggy for some people(including myself). Also Northern lights is dominated by tanks because the infantry dont have at capabilities.

I get that feeling every now and then!
I get that feeling for mainly 2 reasons:
1. My team is full of noobs who are fighting each other.
2. I don't get the asset I wanted in a specific map, For example, When I am US in Muttrah City, I usually take the Attack Huey or the Cobra... If I took none of them, I will be a bit disappointed... and go play infantry...
But I won't really be in the mood to run the whole map to an enemy flag to find some enemies...

I do have to agree strongly with the OP. I have found PR terribly boring since .9.

Like everyone says: it depends on the server.

If all the chopper pilots are noobs and they all crashed/got shot down within 10 minutes, and all the APC are being used by noobs as tanks..., perhaps even the trucks have been single-seated away in another corner of the map...-.-; yes, it is VERY boring to walk 20 minutes to the front line and get killed by the numerous enemy APC/whatever waiting there.

On the other hand, when everyone do what they are SUPPOSED to do (as in NOT camping with a mortar in DOD and NOT using logi trucks as transports...etc, the list goes on), PR will provide one of the best gaming experience ever.

Been playing it for 3 or 4 years and I have yet to get bored...

Well, you say, that you played for 4,5, oder 6 hours a day, several days a week. And thats what I can read over and over again in the PR-forums and elswhere. And I think, that this is you main problem. If you play the same game for mayby 20 hours a week, it is normal to get bored from it. I would go even further: it is a good sign, that you get bored from it, it shows, that you are not completly gone mad ;-)
I can play for maybe 2 or 3 hours on two days of the week, and thats when im lucky. For me it's still fun, and I'm happy about every second I can spend on the battlefield.

So, take a break from PR, play something else or leave your computer alone and once you restart with PR (maybe with Arma2 :P R :D ) it will be fun as it has been the last years!

I played 5 concecutive rounds for from 7:30am to 4pm and enjoyed every second of it, no boredom or lack of fun.

If you are getting tired do as everyone above has said and take a break. A week without a game can do wonders and refresh its longevity.

I feel bored when I play as infantry and I think infantry in PR is the most (but still more real than other games) unrealistic part and there is too much armor and infantry on maps like Muttrah have no chance at all. We need more unarmed transport vehicles instead of armed ones.

someone once said that when you're bored, it is time to do new stuff in PR.
For example; you have been playing mainly infantry for the last year and it's starting to get boring. Perhaps it's time to take on the armor?

I'm not really bored on PR, but i can sometimes get bored on specific map or game.

PR rounds have their ups and downs. Sometimes I take a break from PR as well, due to interest in other games (blasphemy! :p ), or simply because I don't feel like playing PR for a while. And when you come back, you're full of energy and what not.

I think it's healtyh to stay away from things for a while OP, then come back after some time, to re-enjoy the game. You're simply burnt out on it right now.

Too true....you can't keep at one thing for too long. Just take a break mate! I'm currently on a much needed one to focus on other things for a little while (getting some mapping done :-P ), it isn't a bad thing. When you come back on you'll feel better, and trust me, there is nothing like PR out there, you'll miss it before to long :-) .

I agree that it has its up and down moments. One time you have a great time playing, other ones are boring.
I do think that the older versions like 0.5 had a bigger fun factor though, since you could spawn closer to the battles and map were smaller while still not being a vBF2 game.

(and more maps had tanks in them)

It's difficult, as well, to compare with versions of years gone by as memories tend to be a lot better than the actual event. I bet if we were to revert back to 0.5 for instance it wouldn't be nearly as fun as you remember, although of course we're unlikely to ever find out.
