Hi, is it possible to deactivate your physically installed graficcard while you do not use it, so that the fan shuts down and use your passively cooled onboard grafikchip instead? It would be an AMD mainboard and ati graficcard.

yes, when you start up your PC press F12 or Esc or however you access your BIOS on your computer,
Find Graphics display or something along those lines and you should see,
PCI slot
PCI x16
or motherboard iirc
You will have the optiosn to disable or enable, and tahst how you do it.
Sorry if im not clear, reasons are probably out there

Your explanation is quite clear, ironically the confusion started to set in when you tried to explain on how you were not clear

. This leads me to my next question. Is there some kind of switch you can use, that you hook up to both your outputs and it feeds to one screen?

Uhh if you mean hook up one cable to your video card and one to your motherboard, I don't think that will work, just gimmie a sec to do a quick google search.

No I mean hook up one cable into my monitor and have it connect do both cards. I guess there aint too much demand for that though. Ah I already found something. An DVI Switcher, looks like what I need.

Yes a switch will allow you to easily change the source for one monitor, but it will not disable either card when switching, both will continue to run but one will not provide data to the monitor.

Yes I know, I will still have to disable or enable the appropriate card in the bios, but I wont have to fiddle with cables.
