hi,

ideas about such roleplays have been discussed several times and the limitation to 64 players makes it pretty inconvenient to have non fighting participants. when arma 2 pr comes out there likely will be some sort of those (i think :) )

regards,
skull

If you refer to battlerecorder footage, there is an app called batledirector that can remove the nametags, among other things.

Last time I checked out BattleDirector it messed up some files and I had to reinstall BF2 and PR so it looks like someone needs to update it to make it work with the latest BF2 :P R..

Removing the tags while playing live (in prbot) would be a nice feature, but I'm not sure how that stuff works and if it can be done in the first place.. The best would be a menu option maybe, enabling you to show or hide tags. But a few tags won't make your film worse/bad unless you're going for realism, and Arma 2 is more suited for that I guess.

Another thing you might be able to do is desaturating the blue/red/green tags in an editing program. By doing so they will be grey and less visible/noticeable.

iirc Battledirector/battle launcher removed tags be changing a line of code in the gamelogic file, there is a button in the program to fix it/revert it to normal settings. If you do not repair it you will get PB kicked.

There used to be a console command that allowed you to turn off everything in the HUD but for some reason it was removed in one of the last patches.

I believe it also removed the blood effect so players could use it as an exploit.

Oh that's right! I completely forgot about that.
That would be pretty neat if you could get a license from the devs so that you can remove the HUD for filming purposes....

im sure if you put in the time, you could mod PR to make movies(with the Devs permission of course), as its unlikely that the devs will make a reporter kit.

the command is 'renderer.drawHud 0'. however, i think its a banable offence in a server because it can be exploited in some way. but if your watching a BattleRecorder file, it should be fine.

in your battlefield2/mods/pr folder, you will find a file called gamelogicinit.con. Make a backup of it and save it outside of the bf2 folder. Open it and add

Code: Select all

renderer.drawnametags 0
at the top and save. This is primarily for recording through battlerecorder files as the "follow player" feature will have a red or blue nametag on the top there on ruining the shot. Make sure to replace it back to the original file when done since sometimes punkbuster kicks you from server with a modified gamelogicinit.con file, and you cant see the name of your teamates :p

NOTE: This does not work in ingame consoles.
There used to be a console command that allowed you to turn off everything in the HUD but for some reason it was removed in one of the last patches.
When a player is dead (not critically wounded) it has the black screen. Using that code will remove the black screen and lets the dead player see the surroundings/what killed him. It can be exploited as they would pass information regarding their death to their teamates.

Hope this helps
