Burning Sands - why so underplayed?

Why is Burning Sands so underplayed? I only see a couple of constantly empty servers with it and the servers that tend to always be full don't have it in map rotation... Really sucks, I remember playing it when .95 came out (first time I played PR, and iirc it was when Burning Sands was released) so I didn't pay any atention to the map 'cause I was trying to find out what to do, but I made a local server on it today and I was blown away, that map just looks beautiful and fun to play. Found out about the Gazelle only spawning on it in another thread (that's why I went to Burning Sands) and it's just the most fun chopper to pilot in the game, it's agility is fantastic, I can do loops and barrel rolls with it on a dime and fly through the cargo planes easily. It's armament gives the impression it packs quite a punch aswell, and it can carry 2 passengers! Requires moar Gazelle and Burning Sands

Also, why is the HUD in russian for it? Was it made by Bosnian SOKO?

unfortunately there many problems related to this map, thats the reason why! some people got CTDs on loading, some people crash while playing, some servers crash at loading, some problems with random deadzones on the map, etc. etc.
nice map, and i hope it'll work better with the next patch! then we'll see it more often in the maplists.

You didn't know? Radiation pockets. Very dangerous in the desert

I loved it as well the few times I played it. Had a very realistic feel to it like most "modern" pr maps do

i like the map too, it looks very realistic, the city and its sorroundings are just the best thing ive seen in PR. So many places where i'd like to fight at, but so few i've already fought at because i couldnt play the map that often...
Good luck, Rudd, im sure you do your best to fix the map!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I think it's because of the CTDs, it is performance killer map IMO. I like the idea of the map and if the performance issues will be fixed, I'll love playing it.

Partly because of technical issues, partly because the community has grown to dislike asset oriented maps for some reason.

burning sands has my favourite armour combat of any other map
there's just something about T-72s against CR2s in the desert that's just so awesome.

Some of my favorites too, but we seem to be a minority these days.

Well Burning sands has a very good balance of infantry action and armour warfare, which most asset heavy maps do not have that much of. The infantry on BS have a lot of protection in the city and it is a very unique and fun area to fight in. That and it is by
far the best map for armour combat. If the performance issues get fixed I am sure it will make a resurgence in map rotations as it is a brilliant map. (when you can play it

)
