Video settings versus Frames per Second

Dear All,

I have the following:

Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2ghz
8800 gt 512mb - (upgraded yesterday from 8600 gt 256mb ram)
2.5 gb ram

On all medium settings with AA turned off and a conservative resolution setting, I fluctuate from 40 to 15 fps.

On Jabal I was doing well with 30 - 40 fps. Not spectacular but decent.

On Gaza I was not able to play effectively with a consistent fps of around 15.

There were times on Jabal where it would spike to 50 or more.

My question is this:

Are these fps numbers normal for a system like mine or should I do more to enhance the capabilities of my system by tweaking something?

I have the latest drivers for everything.

Thanks for your advice.

@Th3Exiled

thanks for your response. I do always close every application when I launch PR. My feeling was that in fact it was the processor, that no matter how much gpu power I have that the cpu was the weak link and was always going to slow down my system.

Do you have a place I might go on the internet that lists some of the improvements that you allude to in your post?

P.S.
I am very sorry to see what is happening in Brisbane. I celebrated New Years there in 2003 and greatly enjoyed myself - fun town.
