Didn't realize it was the 512MB version.
System requirements:
Suggested ATI Radeon? HD 5670 512MB GDDR5 System Requirements
* PCI Express? based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard
*
400 Watt or greater power supply recommended (500 Watt for ATI CrossFireX? technology in dual mode)
* Certified power supplies are recommended. Refer to
AMD Certified Power Supplies for a list of Certified products
* Minimum 1GB of system memory
* Installation software requires CD-ROM drive
* DVD playback requires DVD drive
* Blu-ray? playback requires Blu-ray drive
* For an ATI CrossFireX? system, a second ATI Radeon? HD 5670 graphics card and an ATI CrossFireX Ready motherboard are required
You should get a new PSU for the card. But I was wrong about the external power connector.

did you try manually setting your resolution in the settings file? or you can do the same thing by setting the resolution in the shortcut's target.
user/mydocuments/battlefield2/profiles. find the video files in 000X and default. right click edit. then just set the resolution numbers to your native resolution.
