I have had the exact same problem for quite some while. Though I have a dualboot with XP with which I can play PR so I never bothered to look for a fix for it.

I had this problem with Windows 7 (32-bit), I followed another users solution with a similar problem.
Reinstall your DirectX 9 - this resolved the problem for me. Hopefully it will for you too.

You could try boosting your page file manually (usually not neccessry), adding a flash drive (i.e. usb stick) for use with "
ReadyBoost" or simply buy more ram.
If you are really desperate you might want to look at turning off "Superfetch" and "Prefetch" as windows will allocate RAM for programs that it thinks you might start in the future.
Also: check your Resource Monitor and make sure that your amount of "Hard Reserved" is below 20MB else you might have some bad drivers installed.

are there any negative effects with turning Superfetch off.

Ofcourse. Superfetch is - from what I read - a very sophisticated memory management tool. It is supposed to speed up loading times - so if you turn it off you might have to wait for an application a few seconds longer because the allocation has yet to be done. While with superfetch that would have been (maybe) done before, when the PC was idle. This on the other hand also means that you can have significant wait times for when you started an unexpected program and windows has to free up the RAM it used - or as I see it with PR the new application will not get the RAM it deserves.
Turning off is as simple as deactivating a system service. I don't believe this will cause any permanent damage if you try it for a week.

I have experienced the same problem. What i did to fix it: I set my resolution as high as possible, turned of anti-aliasing and set everything else to high except for textures and lighting(i changed those to medium)...On the desktop i ran the game as an admin and with compatibility xp service pack 2...Hope that helps!
