Router problem: "Your connection to the server has been lost"

Hello. Like the title states, I have been experiencing router problems in PR (and FH2). After being on the server from 2-10 minutes I get the message "Your connection to the server has been lost". This has only been happening when I play trough router but not if I use direct connection to cable modem (which is not an option for me anymore).

My router is TP-LINK TL-R402M 4-Port Cable/DSL Router.

Settings(image below) are all default, firewall is off by default.

This happens only in BF2.

EDIT:
Things I've tried so far(and on every change listed below I got "connection lost"):
- Setting router to static IP
- Testing various MTU settings, 1492, 1440, etc.
- Disabling/enabling router firewall
- Hardware-resetting router
- Disabling/Enabling DHCP in router

I have read how you solved your problem but unfortunately I am not using wireless network :( Thanks anyway

BTW Does anybody know if there is a setting somewhere for BF2 client to wait more on event of interrupted connection?

You might try to set the MTU size to 1492.

I have edited original post with what I've done so far, nothing helps. This router just does not like BF2, I hope it at least helps BF2 players to avoid it if they should need a router.

I've contacted the TP-LINK tech support also. I hope they will come up with something smart because incompatibility with BF2 is serious issue considering how big the BF2 player base is.

In the DMZ setting enter your PC's IP and enable the DMZ.
This will expose your PC as if it is directly connected to the internet without a router - no firewall rules what so ever should apply. This of course puts your machine at risk and I suggest only doing this for testing purposes.

If this fixes your issue the problem is within the router's settings/firewall.

Increase the lease time of 120 minutes (2h) since this can cause you to lose connection. And PR matches usually last longer then 2 hours.

Its good to learn what DMZ does, I did wonder that. However, my problem is still persistent even after, like you said, entering my LAN ip into DMZ section and enabling it.

All security settings in the router are by default off, so I really have no idea of what is causing this.

I have also updated firmware to latest but to no avail.

I received email from tech support but the suggestions were pretty general, still waiting for them to answer my second inquiry.

After a while, if I conclude this problem as unsolvable, I will bold it out in the first post to, at least, reduce risk of another BF2 player(coming trough google or forums) purchasing this model from TP-LINK network company. If they are able to help me, I will state that too.

Thanks everybody for suggestions.
